Update #41 - Legal Mess, taking a break

🔔 What's going on

Hey everyone, some of you might’ve caught my venting on discord over time, but I’ve been dealing with a frustrating legal mess with my soon-to-be-ex-accountant for a long time now. Long story short, he botched things big time, filing taxes wrong, costing me tons I shouldn’t have paid, among other similar screw-ups with the game’s funds which I have been saving up preciously (have not given myself a salary at all). So, for a while now I have been dealing with this by terminating the contract, closing the company, and suing to get what’s owed.

Don’t worry! The game’s definitely not canceled or anything like that! It’s just been moving slower than I wanted this past year because I couldn’t hire a full-time team due to this financial mess. That’s also why I had to start the Patreon/Subscribe Star.

I’m sharing this because all this legal stuff should wrap up before the end of June, and I’ll finally have access to the funds again. But, it’s been a lot. I'm totally mentally exhausted from dealing with someone so scummy and actively hurting me, and I’ve been juggling the project solo while carrying this weight for the past year. For the sake of the game, I’m taking a month off to finish sorting this mess out, and come back refreshed to focus 100% on getting Mana Quest ready for Early Access without all this stress keeping me up at night.

🏃 When I'm back

I’ll be back around mid June and will drop a new build with a new Kalala h-scene around then! 

Before that, I’ll hopefully still share some updates with an exciting Alna overhaul, more kickstarter backer character sketches, and some progress on the interface redesign. (Depends on how fast the artists are :3)
