Bonus #378: Give Us Our Appliances!

Food 52 is great, it’s on YouTube and lots of content. Most of the hosts are funny too

Melanie Rattansen

Ronnie. Your Minnesota accent is SPOT ON.

ProducerIngrid

I binged the whole thing in one night! So good!

Elisa

Love these free-form chatting episodes! And I’m now convinced I need to buy the Breville air fryer! Now, I need to figure out which appliances need to be demoted off the counter.

As for The Creami, I saw another person I follow on IG, talking about getting one. Her husband did a lot of cooking & he made some excellent “creami” desserts. They both said they loved it. Now I want one, but have no space to put anything! 😩😩😩 Great episode guys. Anything about food, I’m in. Ben, I’ve been drooling over all those cakes you’ve been making out of your cake cookbook. ♥️

Agree about the Food Network. I rarely watch anymore. I can only take so much Guy Fieri reruns. The Cooking network used to have Rachel Khoo, who I love, in her Paris kitchen, and in her London kitchen. She used to have a “restaurant” in her tiny house. It would accommodate a small amount of people, but it fascinated me how she could work in a small space. She has since moved to Sweden and now has her Swedish kitchen, but it’s not shown here in the US. Another one I enjoyed watching was David Rocco in Italy. Anything on location like that attracts me. I think that was also on the cooking channel. Now he has an entire series on India, on location, but that’s not shown in the States either. Really frustrates me when I see these people I enjoy watching on TV, going online, talking about their projects, but we can’t see their TV shows here.

Loved Searching for Italy - watched it twice!

Sorry I’m back. On Amazon there is this Australian show called My Kitchen Rules. 2 people from all over the country cook a restaurant meal for 12 people and they all rate how good it is. There’s 2 professional chefs there as well. I think you would like it.

Terese Davis

This was great! I loved it. You’re right about Food Network. Not enough instructions and ways to get you to cook for yourself. They just paid the GDP of a small municipality to keep Bobby Flay recently too. All he does is competitions. I like Gordon Ramsey. He’s an asshole, but he wants the best out of you. Crime Scene Kitchen was good too.

I can't tell you how irrationally excited I was when you began talking about air fryers! I've been looking at them and related to Ben's hero's journey regarding the decision. Also, I just watched Stanley Tucci's, Searching for Italy (HBO Max) and besides delicious food it seems like lots of content for comedic commentary. I would love to hear both of your experiences with it!

Elisa

Now I want a Ninja Creami! I used to watch Food Network all the time now I never see anything that I want to watch on there...sad

Nancy Malette

These are my fave bonus episodes!

Jamie All Runner

Early aughts Food Network was WHERE IT WAS AT!! Sara Moulton, Food 911, Good Eats - now it’s all quasi celebs proving they know how to chiffonade basil.

Mary Erickson

We just ordered an Ooni! Can’t wait to start using it. Glad to hear your friends like theirs.

Karen Wasem

Ben has me seriously considering replacing my regular toaster over with a Breville Air Fryer...this may be the most expensive bonus episode I've ever listened to 🤑

Kelly Payfer

I gave up on it years ago. 😞

Kate Steinberg

You know who I miss so much from the Food Network years ago? Sara Moulton! She had such a positive energy without being cloying and she was down to earth and unintimidating but had elevated recipes that I often used!

Kate Steinberg

Thank you for addressing how terrible Food Network is nowadays! 🙏🏽

Kristal Haynes

Thank you! These are the best! ♥️
