#1938 RHOM: Miami Catch Up!

Thanks for this reply! I was just thinking I probably would've called 911 and could not understand Lenny's rage about it. And, knowing what a scumbag he is, was wondering if the nanny might be here without papers and he didn't want to get caught up in that kind of drama.

Can attest to these planners being the real deal lol. One of the planners on the list — who also planned Naomi Biden and Chelsea Clinton’s weddings — was the planner for my cousin’s wedding this past summer. They brought Leslie Odom Jr. in for a special performance at the cocktail reception the night before the wedding 🙈.

Yeah, it’s basically using the equity in your house as collateral for a credit card. If you owned a $500,000 house outright — no mortgage, etc. — and got a Line of Credit (LOC) for $100,000 from the bank, that would let you charge up to $100k on that LOC. You could spend it on whatever you wanted normally: home repairs, tuition costs, a big fancy vacation, you name it. If you failed to repay that money though, the bank could then collect by putting a lien on your house for that amount. That lien would sorta be like a mortgage but I think of the LOC as a bit different. All that said (!) I actually found the “I don’t have a mortgage!” fight kinda sad. It was never about the mortgage for Lisa, I think it was about the fact that it drove home for her that (a) she knew nothing about her finances and (b) even Larsa knew more about her life than she did and could see it was a bunch of smoke and mirrors. And with her marriage falling apart, which Lisa for sure knew was coming, highlighted that she was about to be out in the world on her own and feeling totally helpless/hopeless.

Actually the 911 thing with Lenny was the only time I’ll ever agree with him. My brother is an EMT and it is absolutely the case that many people call 911 when they don’t really need it, and especially in a place like Miami taking up ambulances and resources for minor injuries endangers people who are in life or death circumstances. That said, Lenny or Lisa or someone else on their staff could’ve obviously driven her to the hospital as opposed to just sending her in an Uber.

I answered you before I listened to the podcast (whoops) and I realize now you meant the 911 thing with Lenny and the nanny. Yes, that was weird. I thought you meant when they were all in the Keys and Lisa found out Lenny had the new girl at the house and the nanny was locked out and Alexia said she should call 911.

Leslie

Alexia did say last year that she calls 911 all the time and "they, like, know me!" So, I thought it was a hilarious unintentional call back to her saying that. I think Alexia genuinely would've called 911 if she were in that situation.

FYI a Home Equity Line of Credit doesn't give you cash out unless you request it. So if you have equity in your house you can get a line of credit. It's like having that amount available if you need it. So if I had $50,000 line of credit and I had an my HVAC needed to be replaced and I didn't have the cash on hand, I could tap into the line of credit. But my loan then would only be for the amount I took out.

I thought that whole 911 thing was super weird - anyone else???

Thank you; I wondered but am far too lazy to do the research

She totally was named one of the top 10 in the world (not number one, but still) for wedding planners in the world by Vogue. Everyone else on the list were really prestigious as well, so it definitely wasn't a BS article. I literally only know because I have a client with actual money, lol, so I had to do some research and she has great credentials.
