I remember my mom making me watch the Adam Walsh movie (he was around my age), and I remember the news stories an the kids of Atlanta getting kidnapped and murdered in the 80s too. It was so prevalent it put the fear in me that I could be snatched up at any time. Thanks mom! Lifelong anxiety!

2022-10-07 20:07:47 +0000 UTCIt’s actually EMDR and it’s a form of psychotherapy that can help people heal from emotional distress and PTSD that is caused by trauma. It’s more intense and helpful than just ‘talking’ therapy. I was run over by a car and for some reason my brain did NOT block out the entire accident so I remembered ever detail. I relived it every day and it was awful. EMDR helped me so much. I can recall the details of that day but I don’t have a panic attack when I do. Don’t ask me how it works, I just know that it does. You still have to do the ‘talking’ therapy but EMDR is very, very helpful.
