I believe all waterfowl are monogamous but only a little under half will mate for more than just a breeding season. They’re similar to humans in that some may stay together for life (iirc swans generally do but sometimes they’ll separate due to either just a normal break up or adultery), and some are only monogamous for the season. But some ducks actually will actually seek out their previous partner season after season. Also the scary looking fish that Ronnie mentioned is actually a parasitic flatworm
