Yomnum's Dungeon - The game that became Tuffum's Lair

Originally, Tuffum was pink and was going to be a secret enemy with his own world (1st image) in a game called "Yomnum's Dungeon" where a little imp named Yomnum (2nd image) followed you around as you traversed deeper and deeper into a dungeon. Each floor would get more and more difficult, but the objectives would be simple: Find the stairs to go deeper. This game was planned to be a rogue-like permadeath dungeon crawler where each run would be a different experience. A new enemy would be added to your roster of adversaries with each floor you passed, always starting with Yomnum following you.

Yomnum's deal was he would not hurt you so long as you kept him fed. Each floor of the dungeon would have scattered pieces of raw meat for you to feed Yomnum. If you failed to do so, you'd die and the run would end.

Like Yomnum, each enemy introduced would have a new mechanic. The Happy-Hug Bot (3rd image) would occasionally become "active" and roam the map demanding hugs! The player was to find it and interact with it (hug it) in order to deactivate it. If this wasn't done in a certain amount of time after the bot became active, the bot would rush to the player at extreme speed, ultimately jumpscaring and ending the run. Muumii (4th image) was a jack-in-the-box styled enemy where its music box would randomly begin to play. Once the music stopped, the ghost in Muumii's head would pop out and Muumii would begin to hunt. The music box audio was going to be global and the player's priority would be to find a good hiding place by the time the music stopped as Muumii would soar around the map at great speeds looking for the player before becoming dormant again. If the player was to be found, they'd die.

But yeah, this was all replaced with Tuffum's Lair! Honestly, there were SO MANY prototypes to Tuffum's Lair including a farm map, which I'll probably post about tomorrow!
