January Status Report 2026

Once v27.3 was actually out around the start of the month, things certainly shifted into just bugfixing for a while, which, while there were definitely a variety of odd and surprising problems, none of them were the critical issues I worried could happen with level drain being added, so that's good at least.

After v27.3b came out, further bugfixing was done, but nothing warranting another bugfix patch. So I moved on to other tasks, such as creating a small program in Ren'Py to simulate MGD's textbox, mostly for the purpose of checking textbox overflows, since it's an issue me and Val have often run into while doing testing, and which has been cumbersome to deal with. So that should streamline things a bit more, and indeed, it has so far with initial uses.

Then, based on post-v27.3 feedback, I have added a simple 'Lvl Down' VFX popup for when the drain level function gets used. And I have also added an option to 'Look for trouble' in both the Starlight and Aphrodesia Districts, so people don't need to keep bouncing back and forth between locations to trigger encounters they're trying to get intentionally.

The Val writing mentioned in the last status report is now ready to go for the next update as well, alongside two smallish scenes I did for it from inspiration. Additionally, Val made a new Relria scene that will be going into the next update as well.

And finally, I've gotten CGs for the Toxic Matango and Harpy Tengus implemented in the game, each by their respective original artist. I'll probably do teasers for them before the next update is out.

Speaking of, v27.4 will come out sometime next month, featuring the above, alongside some other stuff I've been meaning to do, so it will be a bit of an 'assorted stuff' update overall. Then, once that's done, I'll be moving on to the Aphrodesia District stamp acquisition for the following update.
