Regarding this update, Ragnar would have gladly killed him, but the truth is Ragnar has never killed anyone. The emotional consequences it would have for him later is what Yule wants to avoid. So how are they solving this? Because it's clear that having Owen around is not an option anymore. Find out on next update~
