Things are really crazy right now for pretty much the whole world. My roomies and I are more or less self-quarantining, and while it's not necessarily dire (I already worked from home, and we're young and otherwise healthy), it's still pretty scary and stressful. One of my roomies is technically laid off, the other is already fighting a nasty headcold, and we're all generally facing some financial uncertainty at the very least.
So while I am actively working on a queue of "normal" commissions (including a couple for patrons!), I'm opening up a batch of cheap, loose bust/headshot commissions to work on in between the bigger stuff and keep myself limber.
While these are geared towards my broader audience (aka, not the Dirtybird stuff), I'm opening these to you guys as well because you're... well, great! And at least a few of you are probably pretty scared and stressed out by current events too.
Here are the rules, c/p'd from Tumblr:
IN ORDER TO GET IN ON THIS, PLEASE:
- Send me $6-$9 on my Ko-Fi! Ko-Fi takes money in three-dollar increments, so you’re buying me two (or three) coffees in Ko-Fi-talk!
- In the message bar, you MUST indicate that you are getting a commission, and whether or not it’s black-and-white or color.
- ALSO in the message bar, you MUST link to a good, clear visual reference of the character you would like me to draw! I am normally available for character-design commissions, but the point of these is do them VERY fast and VERY efficiently while juggling multiple windows, so keeping it streamlined and simple is a must.
- Submit your payment before 11:59 PM EST on Friday, March 20th, 2020. Depending on the quantity I may not be able to finish them all tonight, but if it’s submitted before the cutoff, it will be added to the queue!
- OPTIONAL: If our internet cooperates (it’s been extremely spotty lately, so apologies in advance if this part has to cancel), join me on Twitch tonight to watch your commission drawn! They’re all done on the same canvas, in the order paid for, and it’s overall a chill time. I might even have some background music! We have fun. Also, feel free to join even if you're not getting a commission!
- VERY NOT-OPTIONAL: Any coffees bought/money sent that DOES NOT TAKE THESE RULES INTO ACCOUNT (ex: no info included, no visual reference included, submitted after the cutoff, etc etc) will be considered a tip, and you won’t get anything. So PLEASE, make sure you know what you want (and communicate it clearly in your Ko-Fi payment!) before sending anything!
If nothing else, I hope you're all safe and sound right now. These are weird times we're living in, but Dirtybird's thinkin of you!

2020-03-22 00:52:00 +0000 UTCAwesome! Between you guys and the other folks who have hopped in so far, it seems like it's going to be a very interesting crew of characters tonight! And yeah, it's not really terrible here (there were still families hanging out at the park the last time I went out to pick up groceries even though they're totally not supposed to lol), but we're trying to be responsible. Even if it is disturbing that this is happening, I agree that it's heartening to know that none of us is alone in this.

2020-03-20 21:39:40 +0000 UTCThanks for the offer, I grabbed one! - It's not too bad where we are, we have a 4 metre separation rule that came in today for public spaces/restaurants. Weirdly, it's feeling good to be close to family, the feeling that everybody else is working together and we're all in the same situation pretty much worldwide (and this from a huge cynic). Either that or the virus has finally reached my brain.

2020-03-20 19:40:51 +0000 UTCSent. OMG that pic, a good friend, the guitarist in my band "Stark Raven" in 86 thought I could draw. Wanted me to do the logo and cover art of our first album (yeah). Took me a year to do this and involved xeroxing the inked piece in progress huge to work on then making it the right size. Our band, had no album and It ended up being a guitar-case sticker as our bassist worked a decal die-cutter on summer-hire. Will be interesting to see him as a character finally. Let me know you got it ok please. Our guitarist was named Jim, so that is what is in Chinese-like characters at the bottom for his guitar case. For anyone else here. https://sta.sh/022v4jdlvwcy
