From the very beginning his story is very much just a tragic spiral starting from some of his most positive experiences. It's a weird kind of feeling from watching this doc, to this date I can't describe it.

ok I actually kind of have to disagree a little, though this might just be because I know more of some things that happen later but Chris's dad Bob Chandler actually did try to help Chris, he just wasn't forceful enough doing so, Bob was a pretty normal successful person from what I know, and his other kids he had before meeting Barbara grew up to be completely normal, the issue was just that he was already pretty old by the time Chris was born and life just beat him down, well that and Barbara, but he did still try and he told Chris off multiple times for the stuff he was doing and exactly why it was wrong. I honestly feel really bad for Bob, I wouldn't wish the way he died on anyone, it's hard to sum up exactly why it was so bad in a short comment, especially without the context you'll gain through seeing more of this documentary, but basically some of the things he was most worried about came true.
The more you learn about Barbara the more you'll realize she was pretty responsible for egging Chris on at times, those two actually end up in front of a judge a few times because of it.

Wow, 4chan actually reaching out to help someone is surprising. Hopefully he gets that help.

In the mecha community, we have our own Chris-Chan who goes by the username Clawshrimpy. The guy is a massively delusional autistic SJW. He's so pathetic and self pitying, 4chan of all things somehow took the time to stop shitposting and be straight up honest with him. Told him to listen to what his therapist told him and get off the internet for his own good. The dude just continued to whine about how no one gets him.

That's the feel I'm getting from what I've seen so far. It seems they are as much to blame for Chris as he is!

his parents failed him. they never got him the help he needed, never socialized him, kept him home-schooled, condoned his weird behavior, etc. they were oddballs themselves, and the traits of "anti-social" and "hoarder" seems to run in the family. upon giving him unlimited entertainment privileges and letting the internet raise him, they just created the perfect environment for him to grow and blossom into a prime delusional wacko.
