Knocking Up the Neighbor Ch. 1

New story I've had brewing for awhile. Let me know what you think!

Knocking Up the Neighbor

CHAPTER ONE

"Hey, hey Big Daaaaaddy!" Tyler obnoxiously greeted his father once he'd answered his call. "How ya doin'?"

Ian groaned. Just before answering his son's call, he said a silent prayer it wouldn't start as it just had, even though he knew it would. "How many times do I have to tell you that I don't like it when you call me that?!"

"A few more, I guess!" His twenty year old called, obviously quite pleased with himself.

"You're the worst, I swear! But to answer your question, I'm fine, thank you."

"Ya sure about that?"

"Why wouldn't I be..?"

"Oh, I dunno? Maybe 'cause you're OLD and STUPIDLY pregnant?!" Tyler replied with more laughter.

"Stupidly pregnant I'll give you, but only 'cause I have to," Ian relented with a sigh. "But not old! I'm not even forty!"

"But you will be in a couple weeks!" His son needlessly reminded before asking, "Ooh… Can you do me a favor?"

"I could, but right now, I'm not so sure you deserve it!"

"Oh, come on! I promise I'll be an easy one," Tyler assured, seemingly sincerely before throwing in a, "Please, Pops?" for good measure, calling Ian by the name he'd used as a little boy to seal whatever deal he was trying to broker at the time.

"What is it?" The almost forty year old half sighed, half groaned, touched by the sentiment, but only so much…

"All I need is for you to please ask my little brothers how much they're gonna chip in for your birthday partay!!!" His soon-to-be oldest and no longer only son shouted before laughing again, making his father groan again as only an especially annoyed one could.

"I told you no party this year, Tyler!"

"But, Pops…" he immediately protested. "Turning forty's a big milestone that deserves to be recognized and celebrated!"

"For most, but what's big right now is me, kiddo…" Ian had little choice but to admit with a chuckle. "If you ever came to visit, you'd see for yourself why I'm not in the mood or shape for a party now, let alone in two weeks when I'll be even bigger than I already am!"

"Send me a pic!"

"No," he replied firmly.

"Aww, come on! Why not?!"

"Because you don't deserve one and I'm out walking Chester right now."

"Aww… How's my doggo doin'?" Tyler asked, thankfully changing the subject, but to a still somewhat touchy one.

"Chester's my doggo now, and he's doing just fine. Like me, he's wondering when he's ever gonna see you again?"

The twenty year old sighed and got serious. "I'm sorry, Dad… I know I haven't been home in awhile, it's…"

"What it's been is three months!"

"So I'm guessing that's more than a while in your book?"

"You are correct."

"I'm sorry. Work's been keeping me crazy busy the last month or so, but… I've got a feeling it's gonna pay off!"

"Oh..?" Ian replied.

"Uh huh! Think I'll be up for a promotion pretty soon!" Tyler excitedly announced.

"Already?! Wow, Ty, that's so awesome! Congrats!"

"Thanks, Dad, I appreciate it. Don't get too excited just yet though," the younger man cautioned. "Nothing's for sure so till it is, I've gotta keep grinding."

"I understand," Ian replied. As much as he wanted to see his son, he of course didn't want a visit home to interfere with his career, especially since it seemed to be on the fast track, hence what he said next… "I just hope that girl who's been in ALL your most recent posts understands too and isn't distracting you…"

"She's not distracting me," Tyler quickly assured. Way too quickly for it to be the actual truth.

"I'm sure," Ian grunted. "So what's her name?"

"Taylor."

"Tyler and Taylor!" He sing-songed. "Taylor and Tyler!" He changed it up a little, Chester looking back and up at him as he did like, 'Are you serious..?'

Tyler groaned. "You sound just like her! She thinks our names are cute together!"

"They are!" His father agreed. "And so is she."

"Yeah, she is."

"Am I ever gonna get to meet her..?"

"For sure!"

"Have any idea when that might be..?"

"In two weeks when she comes down with me for your fortieth birthday partay!!!" Tyler whooped loudly.

Not that he hadn't already tried several times before, but knowing now for sure he wasn't going to be able to talk his son out of a party, Ian groaned again as he shook his head and rather pointlessly asked, "There's nothing I can do to stop you, is there?"

"Nothin'!"

He sighed. "Well then you have to promise me you'll keep it small!"

"But…"

"Something at the house or a restaurant will be… fine," he relented before quickly adding, "But, if it's a restaurant, it has to be one nearby!" He stressed. "Not somewhere in the city!"

"But that's where all…"

"The fun and cool places are, I know," the currently doubly pregnant, soon-to-be father of three finished. "But my fun and cool reserves are running on E at the moment."

"Well they shouldn't be!" Tyler protested. "I was only kidding about you being old!"

Ian smiled against the phone. "I know that, kiddo, and I appreciate it… But me not being fun and cool right now has nothing to do with my age. Believe me, I'd love an awesome party and lame as I'm sure you think it sounds, I think it's super cool I have a son old and kind enough to wanna plan one for me… So, if I didn't have to attend it eight months pregnant with…"

"Twins!" Tyler finished for him before whooping again, "Woo!!!"

"With twins…" Ian repeated with an eye roll. "I'd be all for it, I swear, but since I am, I need…"

"OK, fine…" Tyler sighed, the simultaneous rolling of his own eyes evident, even though his father couldn't see it. "I promise I'll keep the festivities tame, Big Daddy!" He couldn't help but tease again as he finally caved to the wishes of the man who'd birthed him, only for him to huff loudly in his ear in return.

"I swear to God, Tyler… If anything at this small party we're agreeing to, references 'Big Daddy' in any way, I'll waddle by big self right out of it, even if it's outta my own house! Are we clear?!"

"We are, but…"

"But what?!"

"So I guess I'm gonna have to call the bakery to change what I was gonna have written on the cake…"

"Ohmygod…" Ian groaned. "You better! Do it right now!"

"I will when we're done."

"Do you promise..?"

"I promise," Tyler confirmed. "In fact, I'll go so far as to change the cake all together…" he continued. "It was gonna be a 3D replica of you based on the pic I took of you the last time I saw you, but…"

"Tyler!!!"

"I'm guessing that wouldn't be accurate anymore and probably not worth all the extra money anyway, so…"

"TYLER!!!"

"I'm kidding! I'm kidding!" He laughed.

"You better be!"

"I swear I am, and I also swear that nothing at the party will reference 'Big Daddy,' OK, Pops..?"

This time, Ian felt zero sentiment from the old, cutesy name… "Do you PROMISE me?!" He wanted to know.

"I just swore!"

He sighed again, this time in relief, feeling somewhat confident he'd made his point. His relief ended up short lived though and as such, Ian let out another groan.

"Dad..? You alright?!" Tyler asked, suddenly sounding much more serious and concerned than he had.

"Yeah, I'm fine, kiddo. Aside from the fact that Denise is coming…"

"Ms. Edwards..? Tell her I say hi!"

"Yeah, I will, now lemme go," Ian requested, letting out another groan before he could stop himself. "She's coming down her driveway at warp speed and she's waving at me!" He narrated the scene before him with a huff.

"And that's bad..? I thought you guys were friends?"

"You, Kyle and Michael are friends… Denise and I are… friendly neighbors."

"Am I supposed to know what that means?!" Tyler chuckled. "Just do me another favor and be friendly enough to get her email address for me so I can invite her to the party, OK?"

"I'll do the favor and be friendly, but I don't think Ms. Edwards will be able to make the party because…"

"Ian!" Denise waved some more as she reached the end of the driveway. "Oh, sorry!" She apologized, covering her mouth with her well-manicured hand as she belatedly noticed he was on the phone.

Ian forced himself to smile as he waved back, somewhat miraculously managing to keep wearing the fake expression as Chester excitedly pulled on his leash, making his owner's big breasts and belly all shake.

"Hey, I gotta go, kiddo…" he said into the phone. "We'll talk soon, k?"

"K, Pops, bye! Don't forget to send me…"

"Hey, Denise," Ian smiled some more at his down the street neighbor as he hurriedly ended his call and pocketed his phone.

"Sorry!" She apologized again, this time with a giggle. "Didn't notice at first you were on the phone… Tyler?"

"Uh huh."

"How's he doing? I haven't seen him in ages!"

"That makes two of us!" Ian nodded. "But he's doing good… Was just telling me how work's going and about the fortieth birthday party he's insisting on throwing me despite…"

"Aww! That's so sweet, Ian!"

"Yeah, it is," he had to agree. "I feel bad I had to talk him down from throwing me the big party he wanted to, but I'm just not in much of a part mood right now," he shook his head.

"But you should be!" Denise nodded. "If you ask me, you've got a lot to celebrate this year!"

"More than expected, that's for sure!" Ian chuckled. "But anyway… Looked like you had something to say..?"

"To ask, actually," she replied as she crouched down with enviable ease so she could scratch Ian's chocolate lab between his floppy ears. "I didn't want to ask over the phone because it's so… Well, personal, so I was on my way over to see you, but here you are!"

"Here I am, indeed," the pregnant man forced himself to keep smiling.

"Honestly, I truly feel just awful I have to, especially now…" Denise said as she looked up and around his prominent bulges to his face.

"Yes..?"

"I could really use a favor…"

Ian let out an internal sigh of relief… Every time for the last several months  he spoke with or even just waved at Denise as they passed one another in their cars, he thought for sure it would be the time she confronted him about he and Kyle… Even though what had happened between them had been between two consenting adults, Ian still (rightfully) worried about somehow being found out and as such, had been avoiding Denise as much as possible. Since it'd now been so long since they'd exchanged more than a few words, he also worried whether or not he'd be able to keep his cool but mercifully, so far he'd managed to do so.

"No need to feel awful for asking!" He shook his head as he kept on smiling like he hadn't a care in the world. "What good are old neighbors if you can't ask them for a favor when you need it?"

"Oh, we're way more than 'old neighbors' by now, but still… thank you!" Denise sighed as she stood, not struggling at all with the motion, the same of which couldn't have been said for Ian for quite some time by then. "We haven't had the chance to chat in a while, but I think the last time we did, I mentioned that I'm going to Europe with my sister?"

"You did," Ian nodded. "Sounds like it's going to be a nice trip. I've been wanting to take a similar one myself, but I guess I've gone and earned myself another eighteen year or so wait now, huh?" He rolled his eyes.

"Maybe?! Probably!" Denise laughed. "But everything will still be there whenever you get around to going!"

"Right..? So do you need me to take in the mail and water the plants while you're gone?" The doubly pregnant man asked.

Denise nodded. "If it wouldn't be too much trouble?"

"Consider it done!" Ian replied. "And before you thank me, let me thank you, 'cause honestly… I'm already just counting down the days till I need each and every excuse to make myself leave the house!" He chuckled as he looked down at himself.

"Oh you know if anyone sympathizes with you, it's me! When's the big day again..? Has to be coming up soon right?"

"Yes and no… Officially, it's still six weeks and three days from…"

"What?!"

"Uh huh…" the already very pregnant man quickly continued, the countdown having already begun in his mind. "If I even make it that long, which unfortunately for me, my doctor still seems to think I will…" he sighed.

"Oh, Ian… I know being pregnant with twins isn't easy or fun, especially not towards the end," Denise knowingly shook her head. "But the longer you're able to keep 'em in you, the better… I only made it to thirty-two weeks with the boys, which led to some complications early on, but…" she suddenly stopped herself by throwing her hand over her mouth and literally, shutting herself up (for a second, anyway.) "Ooh! Sorry! I don't want to scare you or…"

"Don't worry, Denise…" Ian assured her with another wave of his free hand and a bigger smile. "You haven't scared me. Yet… But, anyway… Is there anything else I can do for you while you're going to be away?"

"Actually, there is…"

"Yes..?"

"So I'm finally getting around to having the main floor remodeled… I've been meaning to for ages, but I didn't want to live through a remodel, but since I'm going to be away for more than a month, I figured now was the best time?"

Ian nodded in agreement. "Not having to deal with all the chaos of work being done while you're there and coming back to something different and new will be nice."

"Exactly! But I won't get to enjoy the change for too long since I plan on putting the house up for sale sometime before the year's out," Denise informed.

"Really..?"

She nodded. "I just don't need such a big place anymore," she continued as she switched to shaking her head. "Especially since the boys hardly come home anymore," she frowned and sighed.

Ian's "friendly" neighbor did have his sympathy there…

"Oh, I feel ya…" he nodded. "I was thinking about downsizing too since I never really needed such a big place to begin with, but now… well…" he looked down past his engorged chest to his bloated, bulging, twin-filled middle again… 'Your son went and knocked me up SO epically, that all the extra room at my place is finally gonna come in handy!' He silently finished.

"Now you'll be able to put it to use!" Denise grinned, totally unaware it was one of her twins who was half responsible for Ian's soon to arrive set. "Anyway, I'll be using the same contractor I did when the tree came through the roof in the back last year, so I'm fine with them being in and out of the house while I'm away."

"That's good."

"So what I need your help with is Kyle."

"Kyle?" Ian repeated, following it up with an internal groan, having thought he'd made it into the clear when it came to him.

Denise nodded as she rolled her eyes. "Turns out that the floor his apartment is on is being renovated at the same time, and before I remembered I was having the house done, I told him he could stay while his place is being worked on."

"OK. So you need me to..?"

"Let him stay with you."

"Oh! Um…"

"I'm sorry for it being such short notice, but I figured it wouldn't be an issue seeing as we basically swapped sons every other weekend back when they were young. Remember that?"

"I sure do."

"If you think about it, in a way, you already know what it's gonna be like having three boys!" Denise laughed.

"I guess," Ian nodded. "But…"

"And for what it's worth, I didn't come to you first… When I realized I'd messed up, I asked Kyle if he could stay with his girlfriend, but…"

"Kyle has a girlfriend?!"

Denise rolled her eyes again. "He claims he did, but I never met her and I guess I never will now since they broke up!" She sighed. "Which makes her place a no-go."

"Oh…"

"Obviously I'm disappointed about not meeting another one of Kyle's girlfriends, but then I realized it might be a good thing this time."

"Kyle being single?"

"No!" She laughed. "Him staying with you!"

"Oh..?"

"He can help around the house! In fact, you have my permission to put him to work however you see fit! Won't that be great?!"

"Um…" Ian frowned. "Yeah, sure, but does he know I'm pregnant?"

Denise shrugged. "I didn't tell him. I figured Tyler mentioned it."

"Yeah, he probably did…" Ian trailed off as he tried to come up with a way to get out of the request and for a moment, he thought he had! "Why doesn't Kyle go stay with Michael?"

"He would've preferred to, but Michael's still studying abroad in Rome so he sublet his place here."

"Oh…"

"My sister and I are going to surprise Michael with a visit while we're over there. I'm so excited!"

"Oh," the pregnant man repeated with a frown before reminding himself he should be smiling. "That'll be nice. I'm sure Michael will like to see you guys."

"I think so. I wanted Kyle to come since the boys haven't seen each other for so long, but he didn't save up for the trip like I told him to and I won't pay," Denise shook her head. "I feel bad, but…"

"We can't give 'em everything forever," Ian had to agree. "You want to, but it's not good for 'em in the end."

"Right," Denise nodded in agreement. "So..?"

"Sorry…" Ian chuckled, some of the anxiety which had rapidly built up in him coming out despite his best efforts. "I guess I'm just not understanding why Kyle can't stay at your place?"

"The contractor said it's going to be like a war zone… He won't have access to the kitchen, let alone the first floor! The way the contractor put it, if Kyle were to stay there, it'd be easier for him to get in and out of his room through the window! Could you imagine?!" Denise scoffed.

Ian was tempted to tell her he could do more than that as he knew his son and her two had all done so at some point to try and avoid their parents' detection, but he didn't want to get Michael or Kyle in trouble, so he went with another approach. "He's what? Twenty now?"

"Almost twenty-one," she nodded. "But you know how boys can still be at that age!"

Ian grunted. He did and didn't… "When I was that age, Tyler was almost two, so I was pretty responsible," he shared before rightfully making sure to add, "Only after being pretty irresponsible, though…"

"I'd still say everything turned out well in the end, wouldn't you?"

"I would."

"So can Kyle stay?" Denise pressed, obviously not going to take no for an answer. "He could take Chester out, he could mow the lawn and go to the store for you, ooh, and…" she remembered with a clap of her hands which excited the lab between her and Ian's feet, making the pregnant man bobble about some more. "He's surprisingly good at painting if you need any done?"

"I actually do still need to paint the nursery," Ian realized aloud before he was able to stop himself, more focused at the moment on making sure his shirt hadn't ridden up to expose any of his lower belly.

"Then this'll be perfect!" Denise beamed. "But to seal the deal, show my appreciation, and as a gift to you and your twins, I'll pay for the paint supplies."

"You don't have to do that!"

"I know, but I'd like to."

Damn it! Denise had gone and made the offer so tempting! Ian still wanted to say no but knew there was no way he could without risk of setting off Denise's "mom sense," which was the last thing he needed to happen, so he nodded in agreement.

"Twist my arm… So when does Kyle get in?"

"This evening, and work starts on the house bright and early tomorrow morning, and I leave in…" she paused to check her watch. "Two hours?! Shit! Sorry, I gotta run! So can I tell him to head over when he gets in?" She asked as she bounced up and down in hurry and excitement.

"Sure thing," Ian agreed, having no choice but to. "Make sure to tell him to bring his sleeping bag."

"Oh shit…" Denise groaned. "I got rid of it!"

"Kidding!" The doubly pregnant man forced himself to laugh, hoping it sounded natural as he recalled where in the house Kyle slept the last time he'd spent the night there, which needless to say, wasn't in his sleeping bag on the floor of Tyler's room! "He can stay in the guest room like a big boy now," he winked. "I'll just have to…"

"You don't have to do anything!" His neighbor emphasized. "Whatever needs to be done, Kyle can do for himself," she assured. "Though now that I think about it, I've never seen him make a bed…"

"I'll let you know how he does," Ian promised with another chuckle and a reassuring nod.

"Oh, please do so I can remind him he can the next time he comes home!" Denise rolled her eyes. "And thank you, Ian! You're a total lifesaver.. I'll feel so much better being overseas knowing Kyle's in good hands with you!"

Oh he'll be in my hands alright… Or maybe I'll be in his? Ian silently said to himself. Well maybe? He realized, not knowing what was going to happen when his babies' daddy arrived that evening.

"It's no problem," he told Denise.

"Since you're gonna take care of one of my babies, I'll be happy to take care of yours when I get back, just tell me when!" She offered as she started back up her driveway. "I just love babies, and you know I know how to take care of twins!"

"That you do…"

"And I'm serious!" Denise called over her shoulder as she continued her now hasty retreat. "Put Kyle to work!"

Ian forced himself to bite his lower lip before nodding and calling back he would, 'cause in his head, he was already imagining all the fun and dirty ways he'd like to put his unexpected houseguest to work, none of which he could share with the young man's mother!

Seeing as he was already literally expecting two relatively unexpected additions to his household before summer was out, a temporary third wouldn't have been a big deal aside from the not so small fact Kyle wasn't just any guest… He wasn't even who he used to be to Ian anymore, not by a long shot! No longer was Kyle just another one of Tyler's best friends and therefore, frequent guest at his home, now, he was the guy who seven and a half months prior, had busted a load (or two or maybe, three?) deep inside Ian, contributing his half of his genes and biological directives to Ian's now quite evident condition, which would only come to be more so over the coming weeks…

"Well, Chester…" the twin-carrying man said as they continued their walk. "This is gonna be an even more interesting summer than we thought!"

No one but Ian and Chester knew who the other father of his twin boys was, not even the other father! When Ian found out he was pregnant for the second time, fear, dread and panic all simultaneously set in, just as they had when he'd found out almost twenty-two years prior that he was pregnant with Tyler. Expecting at eighteen hadn't been the plan, but "things" had happened during beach week between him and another recent high school graduate who was also visiting the shore. From where, Ian hadn't thought to ask and since Facebook and all that hadn't been around back then, he returned home with a souvenir he'd never forget, from a guy he'd never get to thank.

Having a child when he was practically still one himself hadn't been easy, especially not when Ian's parents wouldn't let him postpone going off to college. But keeping Tyler ended up being the best decision he'd ever made and therefore, the main reason he died he could handle being a single dad again (and again.) At the much more respectable age of (almost) forty, Ian found himself on the other end of the age spectrum this time around. First time around he got teased about being pregnant so young, now he got teased (and not just by Tyler) because technically, this pregnancy was considered geriatric. Ian couldn't win.

Speaking of his first born, now that he was working a full-time job, already on the verge of a promotion and more seriously dating by the sound of it, Tyler came home even less than he had while he'd been in school. Having expected this, Ian was surprised by how much he hated almost always coming home to an empty nest. When Tyler returned Chester, the high school graduation present he'd begged and begged Ian for, because he finally realized he didn't have the time to properly care for him (as Ian had predicted,) it helped some, but the empty nest syndrome remained strong. As such, when Ian found out he was pregnant again at thirty-nine, he realized it might not be the problem he first considered it because with a new baby, his nest would be full again.

While he did get teased about being pregnant "at his age" by some friends, family and co-workers, the truth was that more and more people were waiting to have children, so being pregnant again at forty really wasn't too far off the mark. What made Ian's situation unusual was the fact he had a son who was now older than he'd been when he had him. That and that one of said son's best friends had been the one who'd done the deed! Oops…

Rather than deal with the latter can of works, Ian decided he was going to tell everyone the baby he was having (which he'd soon find out was actually two,) was fathered by a donor. While not actually anonymous, that's pretty much what Kyle would be as despite he and Ian's incredible chemistry in bed, there was no chance of anything further happening between them. Even if he wanted it to, and sometimes, Ian selfishly did, it couldn't because Kyle was even younger than Tyler (albeit only a bit) and he'd watched him from up from the age of eleven.

To be crystal clear: Ian had never looked at Kyle or his identical twin, Michael "that way" back then, and never thought he ever would, but the boys had grown to be undeniably attractive young men. Still, Ian knew what he and Kyle had done was wrong on so many levels, that no one could find out Kyle was the twins' other father, not even him! That had been the plan, but now..?

Now, Kyle was going to be staying with him for the rest of the summer, during which at some point, Ian would give birth to their sons. As such, he was rightfully worried whether or not he'd be able to stick to the plan anymore? The hunky, young man who'd knocked Ian up was smart so likely, it wouldn't take him long to do the math and start asking questions, the presently biggest and most obvious of which was if the twins growing in Ian were his?

If Chester was able to talk, he'd most certainly agree that indeed, they were in for one very interesting summer…
