Belcoo met Umbra one day when the edge of his forest territory was being consumed by the corruption of her black tar swamp. Naturally, or foolishly, he went to investigate and had to fight through hoards of skeletons emerging from the mud until he eventually got stuck in the tar. Umbra's swamp works much like a spider's web. Once a victim is stuck in the tar they will be left alone until Umbra can go inspect them, and she does. Belcoo got extremely far into the swamp thanks to his stubbornness and sheer strength and this scared Umbra to a degree.

However, she ridiculed him for even attempting to traverse her swamp while she thought of what to do with him. If she doesn't drown her victims she puts them to sleep and brings them back to her hut where she picks their bodies apart for ingredients or, more importantly, harvests their souls through their dreams. She decided this would be Belcoo's fate and had him brought to her hut.

But once at her hut, she realized Belcoo would be perfect for a mission assigned to her by a mysterious higher up. When Belcoo wakes up in her bed she propositions him for sex, and lots of it with the specific purpose of getting her pregnant.

Belcoo, an absolute breeding machine, is still distrustful for obvious reasons but Umbra promises him she won't try to take his soul. He agrees on the condition that he gets to go as rough as he wants and the two get down to business. Umbra is not prepared for just how sex crazed Belcoo is and after hours of being lost in ecstasy she decides to "keep him".
