Stranger in the Barn

A mysterious masked stranger showed up at Tay's farm one day, hiding himself away in her barn with a horrible injury. His demeanor was standoffish and hostile, even threatening her with a knife but Tay wasn't having any of it. Armed with a pitchfork at first, the stranger knocked it out of her hands with a slash of his knife and recoiled in pain, at which point Tay realized something was off.

The stranger told Tay he's her worst nightmare and Tay just huffed and put her hands on her hips. She saw that he could barely stand and told him "It'll be a problem for me if you die in my barn. Either get out and die in the forest or come inside!"
After a bit of back and forth, the stranger eventually complied, on his own terms. Tay got him in bed and insisted on seeing his injuries but were told again and again to stay away and in a mumbling voice "If I show you I have to kill you", to which Tay replied in an annoyed tone "Okay then kill me later."

He found this mildly entertaining, and finally showed her his wounds, which were severe magic burns covering his arm. He was holding onto a big silver gauntlet with a beautiful gemstone in it's grasp. Tay grew serious in silence and spent the whole night tending to the stranger's injuries, using all the resources she had.

Once he recovered, he found that Tay doesn't do stuff for free and expects him to repay her through hard labor, but he had a better idea on how to repay her...
