💙 Norael - Dragon in Disguise

Drak here, after making that bio page for Reverich I wanted to design another look for Nor, for the setting, which then lead me to make a matching bio.

If you've been around for a long time you might recognize the headband... I abandoned it at some point in exchange for thick horns cause she just can't have both at the same time, it's too crowded. But I still love it, so I'm bringing it back!

I figured for this scenario she hides all her dragon features, going full human mode to blend in, Wolf in sheep's clothing. Rather than resist the curse, she takes advantage of it. She's able to ambush unsuspecting targets/enemies by switching to her dragon form as she strikes. It does hurt her pride... but the positives outweigh the negatives.

(The one thing she can't get rid of is the blue streak in her hair.)

And just to be clear, I'm still gonna draw her with scales and horns! She often switches between the two states based on her emotions. Growing scales when she feels threatened, horns when she's rearing to fight, claws right before she attacks, or just staying in her scaly form once the jig is up. That kind of stuff.

I'm actually working on a powered up version of her dragon form and I'm excited to show it 👀

Overview

Norael is a cursed dragon trapped in a human body, travelling the world as a mercenary in search of a way to reclaim her true form. She's known for her cold demeanor, violent nature, and her ability to wield lightning. Her scars run deep, and those who get too close risk getting bit.

Backstory

Born the runt of a blue mountain drake’s brood, Norael clawed her way through a brutal upbringing, abandoned and forced to fend for herself. Her greed and rage grew unchecked with time, she razed entire villages for sport, claimed vast territory, and even targeted her own kind, resulting in many scars.

It all came to a halt when she attacked an all-powerful sorcerer clad in gold, who cursed her as punishment for her hubris.

Stripped of her scales, Norael struggled to adapt for a long time, filled with a seething refusal to adhere to human society. During this long process, she found herself forming bonds, but every time she opened up it ended in betrayal and bloodshed.

So she keeps moving, working as a bounty hunter, leaving nothing behind and trusting no one. But in the dead of night when the cold creeps in and there's no more conflict to be had, there's a silence known only to someone caught between two worlds.

Personality Traits

Selfish - Acts only when there’s personal gain.
Distant - Cold and distant, avoids connection.
Hot-Tempered - Quick to anger when provoked.
Imposing - Uses strength to command fear and respect.
Spiteful - Never forgets a slight, never forgives.

Norael believes in the draconic creed of Might Makes Right, where strength dictates who is right or wrong. Her goal is to break the curse, kill the golden sorcerer, and usurp the mother who abandoned her. Then, and only then, will she be satisfied.
