Thinking about a new game.

I'm writing this post to tell you that I just came up with an idea for a new game.

Yeah, yeah, I know what you're gonna think: "Another one!? Get to work on the ones you already have!" Don’t worry, I’m working on my games every day haha. It’s just that I was sitting here, working peacefully at my PC, when this idea suddenly hit me and I thought, “Hey, this could actually be cool.” And I wanted to share it with you to see if anyone else likes it—or if I’m totally alone on this one haha.

The game would start in the most epic way possible: a warrior and a mage, both boys, fighting a powerful boss with epic music playing in the background. The two friends would team up and defeat the boss together. After that, they’d celebrate their victory. And then it would be time to log off, so the friends would disconnect and return to the real world. That’s right—they were just playing a fantasy MMORPG together.

Then comes the plot twist: in real life, neither of them is a boy—they're two girls. Two girls who, in order to play the MMORPG in peace, decided to make male avatars and pretend to be boys (this is actually based on real life—lots of girls do this). They met in the game and, after playing together for a long time, ended up falling in love with each other. But of course, the problem is that both are pretending to be boys and each one thinks the other is actually a guy. They’re scared of telling the truth in case they get rejected—or even accused of being deceptive for hiding the fact that they're girls.

So the game would show us the lives of these two girls. Their daily life, going to school during the day, interacting with friends, teachers, maybe bullies too. Then, after school, their online life, where they meet up and play together.

To add more drama, I thought it could be interesting if the girls actually go to the same school but don’t get along. And since they’re girls, they dismiss anything game-related when their classmates (mostly boys) talk about it.

So, what do you think of this idea? Do you think it could be interesting, or does it not grab you enough? And would you prefer it as a visual novel or an RPG Maker game? As a visual novel, it’d focus more on the story, with some choices here and there. In RPG Maker, well, I could add a day/night cycle, have you go to school during the day, and then in the afternoon you could log in to the MMORPG world and explore it like a real player. Would that be a great idea—or do you think it’d stretch out a story that isn’t meant to go that far? What do you think?
