Rear Foot Target Part 2: Behavior Applications

In this Deep Dive we're taking what we learned in Rear Foot Targets Part 1 and applying it to practical behaviors for both daily life and task-related behaviors (pull, blocking, backing out of tight spaces and maybe even a trick or two). If you haven't watched Part 1, it's a good idea to go back and watch that first :)

Behaviors Covered:

•Blocking

•Opening/Pull

•Backing Out of Tight Spaces

•Backing Up with Human

•Stand-Stay

•Sit to Stand (Kickback Stand)

•Beep Beep/Orbit

•Handstand/Single Rear Leg Lifts

Comments

Hey C Marie! Did you watch the front foot target video? Is he independently able to target something with his rear feet? This should be able to happen independent of your position. If he is not confident doing the rear foot target, this is where I'd start.

Laura DeMaio Roy

@Laura he's a big guy, 125# mastiff not great with rear as u figure, he has back up...mostly... He can get up on concrete circular stone and turn his rear both ways, will lift rear paws up but gets stuck if I tell him back and I'm in front of him not a long side of him. .. just can't seem to get him to figure out how to go thru this process... I'm a subscriber but for some reason .. wondering if I'm not logged in correctly.. anyway need to send you this in messages for QnA...
