Stagtown Costume Design: Felix

So I wanted to talk about some of the wardrobe choices in Stagtown, because wardrobe has a small, but important, role in relating who my characters are and how they think. I thought today we'd start with that utter goofball fashion plate, Felix :)  

Felix absolutely can have his character read through his clothing. He has three different categories of clothes that I like to use for him: cute, cozy and braggy.  Felix works out a lot and is more than a little proud of the results, so he often goes for tight short-sleeved shirts that display how fit he is. I file these outfits under Braggy, because he is, in fact, wearing them to show off :)

However, a close follow-up to that category is Cute, and he often combines the two. Felix has an adoration of cute or kawaii things, especially honeybees, which are his favorite creature. So it's not uncommon for him to be wearing some tight muscle shirt that's oddly adorned with a cartoon frog or something silly.

One aspect of Felix's backstory is that he has a lot of art gigs and side hustles, and as such, he designs and sells his own print-on-demand shirts online. Because of this, he sometimes makes shirts just for himself, like his knitters shirt:

The third category is Comfy, which ties into how Felix likes to knit and work in fiber arts and textiles. He definitely knits a lot of things for himself, such as his infinity scarf and gloves:

And sometimes even sews things, albeit very easy things, like pajama pants:

The reason I divide Felix's various looks into these three categories is because they represent the 3 major aspects of his personality. Felix is definitely proud of how he looks, and loves fitness, so he wears Braggy. He's a sucker for cute and adorable things because he has a childlike, optimistic, sincere nature, so he wears Cute. And he has a cozy, homespun, domestic side that loves to provide for his loved ones, in the form of cooking or knitting or other homely gestures, hence his Cozy clothes. These three categories of clothing boil down his 3 biggest traits: Active, Optimistic and Domestic.
