Hurricane Florence and GOES16
Added 2018-09-11 19:47:43 +0000 UTCGOES 16 (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) provides high spatial and temporal resolution imagery of the Earth. GOES is one of my favorite tools for forecasting thunderstorm initiation while storm chasing.
These photographs FROM SPACE are not only helpful forecasting tools, they are beautiful. You can also watch animations of the clouds and atmospheric conditions changing. There might be a better app out there, but right now I'm using this one. Pretty sure it was free.
I WILL NOT BE CHASING FLORENCE. Generally, I'm not a big hurricane hunter. Because they're easy to predict (relative to tornadoes), the bending palm trees are well documented by everyone and their dog. This round, I've also got performances booked, so that's my excuse for slackin'.
