Dung Will Never Be the Same Again.

The watered down decaf I'm drinking is stronger than the storms yesterday in Colorado. I'm not complaining... It was actually nice. Sat on a hill and shot a typical glorious sunset while occasional cloud-to-ground strikes zapped through the orange. The highlight was feeding the dung beetles bananas. Think about it... You eat dung for breakfast, lunch and dinner your whole life and then one fine evening someone gives you a taste of your first banana. How do you go back from there? You could sense the wondrous gratitude radiating from his little beetle body. It made me so damn happy that it was so damn happy, so I went on a dung beetle crusade. Found 2 more and they also went bananas for my banana. TODAY looks weak for tornadoes (again) but strong for wind and hail in W Kansas.

Oh shoot! Thanks for the correction. I think you should get some dung beetles with all the party pooping you're doing :D I've got some stock footage as well as one rolling around it's pride and joy. I could watch them all day... And when i have, they haven't taken they're ball of joy too far before cramming it in a hole.

I don't mean to be a party pooper, but beetle pictured is not a dung beetle. That appears to be a species of darkling beetle. I got a photo of a dung beetle on the Texas A&M campus in Laredo making off with a rabbit turd: https://www.dropbox.com/s/u037z012xo0e98c/DSCF9544.JPG?dl=0 Note the shovel shaped head and rounded back side versus the more tapered back side and fused wing covers of the darkling beetles. Dung beetles can fly and darkling beetles cannot.

Mother nature’s big events are often so awe inspiring, that we miss the smaller members of her family. I adore the fact that you, like me, wonder at nature in every capacity. I like how many people would go about their day and miss the bigger (smaller in some cases) picture. Thanks for sharing your amazing experiences as always Hank, you never cease to amaze me and undoubtedly the rest of your followers. X
