Feb 30th Photo of the Every Other Month

Dang that month blew by.  Daytime lightning shots has been a big target of mine.  Though this leans a little on the mediocre side, it's quintessential Tornado Alley, and is one of the few stills I incorporated into my last video.  My camera caught this while I was literally laying down on the job.  Won't be long now!

Am I the only one who can not download the photo?

Yeah Barbara, Think of a rock dropping in water. Its a wave of cold wind coming down out of the storm, impinging the ground outward and tumbling as it propagates. There might even be some warm winds above it moving the opposite direction causing even more vorticity.

Beautiful. I've been using your red sprite picture from 2019 as my Zoom background, and it gets a lot of compliments (and a lot of opportunities to drop the science you've shared with us).

Wendy Jay

Still gorgeous, better then most of mine lol.

I don't know what to call it, but I saw and was curious about the rolling cloud/dust more prominent on th right side of the photo. I think you and Petra Perez explained it. Thank you for the beauty of your photograph.

Barbara Jeffries

Good eye! So glad you saw and appreciate that.

Pecos Hank

I love that you can see the horizontal vorticity in the dust on the right

Petra Perez

Wow what a beauty!!! Love it.
