March 17 - HIGH RISK chase MS / AL

High risk for tornadoes today...

My analysis suggests the western tornado threat is a little high so I'll likely target the MS / AL border.  I'd prefer to chase the current line if it could manage to break up into discrete cells. That's better chase country (not that any of it's good).  As of now, I'll be heading east toward eastern Mississippi.

Above is the significant tornado parameter for 3pm. Below are hints of discrete supercell tracks at 5pm...

Here is a sounding for the AL hot spot...

And then later HRRR guidance suggests the Sig Tor parameter soars back west...

Here's a sounding for that hot spot...

I'll do what I can to post here, but might not have the time.  Gotta run!  Squally hellhound on my trail.  Be extra carful residents and chasers today.

What's really crazy to me is how many times AL storms follow the exact same line. Places north and west of Birmingham like Fultondale and Pleasant Grove have the same targets on their backs as Moore and Wichita Falls.

Are you going out again this week? Thursday looks promising with moderate risk. Or are the odds of a tornado still too low for the effort?

Man what’s up with all the outbreaks in Dixie! I live in NE Oklahoma and want a Kansas tornado so bad I can’t stand it!!! Is the weather really shifting East like they say it is???
