When the first tornado warning was issued I was trapped in a neighborhood with re-routing construction. I eventually made my way to the shores of Lake Ray Hubbard for a spectacular view to the west where I anticipated the storm and possible tornadoes to come to me. Clear air smooth channel positive lightning was flashing every 8-10 seconds during the more active waves and two areas of power flashes were popping far away as two tornadoes were on the ground (also evident on radar). Rather than pack up and pounce into the chaos of multiple tornado metroplex traffic and construction I opted to watch from a stress free location. I bragging about this decision because it's the kind that could keep me on the planet longer and its a new tactic for me. I had a stupid close call this year in Canadian Texas and need to reevaluate my hunger. Not that I won't do stupid aggressive again, I will, but I hope to lesson that impulse for obvious reasons.
At the Braums in Denton I was recognized by a cook named Simon. He said he loves my channel and I said I love his chicken clubs. Then they forgot to put cheese AND bacon on mine and I didnt have the heart to correct them so I just ate it.
My lightning footage is decent but my tornado video is crap. You'll see it in my best of 2019 slated for release in January. At one point a close bolt popped directly in front of the Wind Breaker and one almost solid white frame was captured by my dash cam, BUT, if you look at the power line pole to the right you'll see a positive streamer. Cool stuff! In all, I'm super thrilled that I got to see some scary storms and three tornadoes yesterday.
