Here are clips of Paul Smith and I totally nerding out. Paul documented sprite activity over a storm complex while I documented the parent cloud-to-ground lightning activity under the storm complex in June of 2019. In real time, you'll miss some of the CGs, but they're there (if you watch frame by frame).
My next video will be simplified sprite physics that hopefully an 8th grader can understand. It's so much easier to just ramble jargon and be accurate than to simplify and be accurate, but I'm gaining confidence we'll pull that off with another visually stunning video thanks to all the contributions from Paul Smith. We have a good hypothesis and explanation of what the green afterglow is and I hope to have the video published next week.
STORMS THIS HOLIDAY WEEKEND
TONIGHT FRIDAY: Looking like possible supercell structures in West Texas this evening. The high-ish TD spreads (temperature / dew point differences) suggest high-ish based storms... which suggest lower probabilities of tornadoes... At least during the day late hours. Due to that and the absence of roads, I'm gonna sit this one out. Hope I don't regret it.

TOMORROW / SATURDAY
At a glance, Saturday looks like a lot of mess early in the period (1pm NAM)...

Followed by an MCS surging across TX in the late AM hours (4am NAM)

SUNDAY
Appears to have significant tornado potential in the LA-MS-AL vicinity. That's the event to keep a close eye on. There are Covid19 caution restriction obstacles discouraging travel across the TX & LA border. Worst case scenario, I drive around LA (assuming make shift border patrol is immune to my charms). Lots to look into.

Stay safe everyone!
