Hello everyone,
Hoping everybody in Florida and vicinity is ok.
Just a quick update that we hit the manta ray jackpot in the Maldives. Similar to many tornado chases, the manta outlook was grim and the tour guide tried to talk us out of going / spending a lot of money. We went anyway and it ended up being incredible. Perhaps too incredible for my wife. We found ourselves swimming in thick krill just prior to a feeding frenzy. An estimated 150 manta rays plowed through us, bumping, slapping and flapping. I got separated from Nat and could hear here screams underwater. They were roller coaster screams rather than I’m dying screams. This is pretty far out of Nat’s comfort zone and I couldn’t be more proud of her for not completely losing it and capturing it all on camera.
The Maldivians couldn’t have been more nice, cool or helpful. They really made us feel welcomed and I’m sad to leave. We’ll be in Thailand looking for snakes for a few more days before flying home this weekend. Sadly, no thunderstorms yet, but the Manta content is off the charts. Can’t wait to show you guys. Here’s the shot that got the biggest scream from Nat.
