Chasing Today - Jan 19 - SE TX

My first chase of 2022... Looks like I'll be breaking wind in the Sabine valley today.   Lower dew points for this vicinity (60's) might yield more discrete photogenic storms than the typical high precipitation messes.   As of now, the only thing I'm counting on is a rare, short commute.  I'll post any entertaining updates in this thread.

TORNADOES of 2021

I've been chipping away at the boat load of 2021 storm footage for my annual wrap-up.  Below are all the best clips through June.  Still have July and August to sort through.

Over-optimistic completion date estimated February 4th.

LOL! No drinking from those taps!

Looks like a body-snatching monster, emerging from the sky.

Pretty good upward suck on the dangle…I’ll be cracking up often when my tornado enthusiast 2d son is old enough…..(only 4 right now but loves all your YouTubes )

While I don’t want my “kid” (it’s a mom thing) in a tornado, I hate that it went boring on ya. He said it was just bad rain and a little thunder up his way. That was a great picture though of the rotating cloud with dangly bits! I just got an iPad Pro and wow! The screen makes it look Ben more impressive than my phone and old iPad 5. At least you get to go home with a short commute tonight.

Paula Miller

lol. Nothing bad at all today. There was some good scuddy rotation that raised my eyebrows in the Piney woods and then it all went boring. Overall a benign event.

Cool

Did you go anywhere near Sour Lake or Beaumont? I was wondering how bad it was getting there today. My son is in seminary in Beaumont and lives in Sour Lake but I know it’s like over an hour from Houston. I couldn’t tell from the first map, it cut off… I guess Houston is too far south? I always end up looking at his weather on the Lake Charles Radar on RadarScope. I told him to look for the Wind Breaker last time I talked to him (age 22) and say hi for his mom if he saw you. :) You taught him meteorology during high school in our home school science class. I’m sorry, you’re just way better than any curriculum I could find.

Paula Miller

I hope the first day of "breaking wind" 2022 was fruitful.

Brent

Nice!

And I thought that was the genus and species of my tap water. Silly me.

Brent

Late to the party but I hope you had fun Hank even if nothing supremely photogenic materialised from that dreich sky.

First chase of the year how Exciting! Good Luck Hank!

SeanW

That scud looks like it wanted to be more.

Celton

Pretty good upward sucking motion on that dangle, however heading into pure trees. Will likely have to abandon this one and head for some of the goop upstream.
