March 22 storms - Deep South / Not chasing

I decided to sit this one out based on the expectations of impossibly messy storm modes.  There might be a window later today for forecastable tornadic storms near the MS/AL border. Hope I'm wrong.  We can discuss the event here today If you'd like.

YESTERDAY's STORMS in TEXAS

Apologies for teasing you guys with the blank photos. I'm guessing that I abandoned the Patreon app too quickly before the screen grab completely uploaded. Here's the comical recap of that...

INITIAL TARGET ROUND ROCK TEXAS

Storm produced tornado in Round Rock... I was trapped in traffic and missed the show. Expecting the northern cells to merge, mitigating the tornado threat, I hit up the southern cell.

Northern cells remained discreet dropping tornadoes while the southern cell poofed into a weak, rainy, ugly poofer.  I didn't even bother taking video of its poofiness.  Generally, this is the right strategy, but not yesterday.  Still, it was nice to put the WindBreaker in action.

Ok, now back to today...

Ya, rather see a shark

So Hank, did you get anything at all on tape(chip) this week? Or did you strike out?

The only thing scarier than a nighttime tornado is a rain wrapped nighttime tornado. Thankfully, we have radar and storm chasers which usually provide enough advance warning for people to get to their safe spot. It is so scary seeing how many people don’t/can’t have basements in NOLA. 😬

I can think of few things I would want to see less from the window of a cruise ship.

Holy cow, what an eventful night! 😬

Would have been watching the Nawlins storm on livestream, but there is a huge house fire a few doors down, and the house next door to it was collateral damage (they’re duplexes). Nothing says “surprise block party” like flames shooting out of the roof!

https://m.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/34938 This is the feed to New Orleans Fire.. At this moment sounds like commanders are trying to establish a perimeter for how wide the damage path is while individual fire companies are working all sorts of incidents

Thanks Richard

Arabi is a census-designated place in St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana. It lies on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, between the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans and Chalmette within the Greater New Orleans metropolitan area. Receiving info from New Orleans Fire of a mass casualty incident with multiple Urban search and rescue requests and extensive structure damage due to a tornado in that area

Richard C

Though a mean looking funnel showed up in New Orleans

Tom

Yeah, I spent the 'ample time' enjoying the light show and my bad decision.

Mike Castles

Messy storm modes may be why I'm not seeing any tornado pics on Twitter yet

Tom

Ouch! I’ve been there. Stuck tow truck driver had to walk back and get a tractor. Ample time to ponder things.

Pecos Hank

Well Hank, don't feel bad. I was North of the warned cell near Marlin. Headed north and west a bit to try and catch another cell. Then got slammed by heavy rain and couldn't see and got stuck in mud on what was supposed to be a road. Two different tow truck came to get me and they both got stuck as well. Good times.

Mike Castles

Damn… anyway, it’s the cell in Taylorvile MS heading toward Newton.
