June 12 Chase Target - MT-WY-SD again

I'm currently rolling with the SPC's 5% outlook.  Will dive deeper into the forecast at a Restuarant after I get kicked out of this repulsive Motel6 in Rapid City.  Excited for another round of pretty storms over dreamy scenery.  Below are a couple stills from yesterday's super-squall-cell.

Good luck inflation cha$er$.

Hank, I love those screen grabs, especially the second one. Thanks

Nope, that was another traveler. We made sure everyone was ok. And yes, I did send my video to the NWS office in Rapid City.

Did the NWS use your amazing pictures? Was that your car that lost the window?

Barbara Jeffries

The SPC seems wonky? Snow and flooding in Western MT, frontal rain from the Pineapple Express to the south and west...in the middle are SD/WY/NE intersection and the HRRR looks interesting. Stay ahead of the cold front? It's been a weird couple days west of the Rockies and is headed east. The moisture is coming...CA, NV, UT all saying "what is this?" It's cold and wet. This is another June 2017.Good luck all.

Brent

Where are you headed today?

Wow! Those photos are amazing!

Beautiful! Stunning photos Hank! โค๏ธ I was driving home from Carlisle PA (my mom's) to Newtown in SE PA. I drive the turnpike for a couple of hours... There was a huge storm from Reading/Ephrata/Lancaster exit to Reading/Morgantown exit (for those awesome chasers in my neck of the woods!). It poured and smacked the windows. (My poor cat...) We all had flashers on and going slow through it. Before the storm the exit was dry. After the next exit was dry. The shelf (alien ship) cloud hung over the pike and all I wanted to do was take pics. But eyes on the road was more important. Eventually the clouds shifted north so I could see the clouds in all their glory. What I found interesting was there was no visible lightning and no hail. As the clouds parted.....I saw the gorgeous moon hanging in the bright sky as the sun was setting. Perfect end for my commute. Hope y'all had a great stormy chase!

Now those pics are some awesome cloud porn!

Got some incredible footage of wind-driven golf ball sized hail in Belle Fourche SD. Found baseball-sized hailstones nearby. Lots of busted windows and signs.
