MUSIC UPDATE
The last couple weeks have been very productive initiated by a deep creative zone writing and recording. 4 songs are close to completion with another 5 half finished and another 5 chomping at the bit to get started. I'm having a blast with the accordion that Todd our drummer/ bassist let me borrow and am dusting off the old rusty trumpet. The most progress however has been on my upright bass performance.
BIG INTERVIEW TOMORROW... (Not Live)
w/ former astronaut Dr Sandra Magnus and former F14 TopGun Navy Fighter School Instructor Admiral James Winnefeld. The two summoned me for their podcast "The Adrenaline Zone" and after prying into my brain, they agreed to switch roles and allow me to interview them for my YouTube channel. This is a tremendous honor for me.
Below are the rough notes for my introduction.
From early childhood to adulthood and beyond, most of us have dreamed of experiencing the ultimate adventure humanly possible. For many of us, that would be a toss up between a fighter jet pilot and an astronaut. In this video, I have the opportunity to chat with both.
Former astronaut Dr. Sandra Magnus has been launched into space 3 times. Twice on space shuttle missions and the other working on the International Space Station. Sheโs spent XXX days, living and working in space.
DR. MAGNUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS....
Former director of the American Institute of Aeronautic and astronautics.
PhD in material science and engineering from Georgia tech.
Her first space shuttle mission - Mission specialist - operated the ISS robotic arm.
Magnus served as the commander of NASA's NEEMO 11 mission, an undersea expedition.
Survival training in Moscow.
Also joining us is former TopGun fighter instructor
4 star US Navy Admiral James A. Sandy Winnefeld.
Graduated from Georgia Tech in 1978 with high honors in Aerospace Engineering
Instructor at the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN)
In his 37 years of US navy service has had Numerous command tours
served as the 9th ViceChairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
Distinguished Professor at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech
(More titles and accomplishments)
Together they host โThe Adrenaline Zoneโ podcast.
In my world of storm chasing, there is no institution or University that gives guidance or prepares you how to document a violent tornado up-close and escape with your life. But we can seek knowledge from masters of other fields where helpful skillsets may crossover.
With the little time I have, I want to learn as much as I can about how Dr Magnus and Admiral Winnefeld handle fear, anxiety and extreme pressure, or lack thereof. Iโm really curious about the psychology and mental tools they use to one, survive, and two, tackle the colossal tasks laid before them.
Did they struggle at all with the insecurities so many of us experience,
or where they just born with the right stuff?
WHAT WOULD YOU ASK THEM?
If there is anything you're curious to ask them, please write them in the comments. This would really be helpful for me.
Thanks so much Patrons. You make me proud.
Hank

2022-11-22 05:01:55 +0000 UTCUPDATE: I just completed the interview with Dr. Magnus and Admiral Winnefeld. Ton of fun! In Summary, It seems they overcome any fears through rigorous preparations, routine and simulations. Not only does this give them confidence to solve any problems and surprises that arise, it desensitizes. Even simple anxieties that would keep me awake, they seem to be able to turn off at will. Just got word their interview of me will be live this Thursday. I'll send that along when I see it. Have a great turkey week Americans.
