Nov 29 Tornadoes?

I'm still on the fence about chasing tomorrow.  Besides not being a big fan of chasing 45+ mph storms through the LA / MS jungles, the Nam 3KM isn't resolving anything...

The HRRR has been resolving a few supercells run to run, here and there all afternoon...

There's enough stuff in the atmosphere to drop strong tornadoes, however my gut is currently feeling the SPC is a little bullish with the 15% Sig/Tor.

Here in Houston the air is cool 61/59 with little wind, however clouds are starting to stream north fast a couple kilometers or so up.

I may sit this one out, I may jump up and run any second. WindBreaker is already packed.  Let's keep in touch here.

Stay safe everyone.

UPDATE 6.09 AM: Leaving Houston heading for NE Louisiana.

Nov 29 Tornadoes?

Comments

Storms were moving at a stress free 35-40 mph. The autumn trees in Louisiana backroads were great with music and the dude at the KFC drive through had a big smile and funny conversation. It was an overall pleasant, non stressful chase with no risk.

Around 5pm, a new supercell was developing with good rotation, wall cloud and no rain. I was able to hang with it 20-30 minutes or so before being hosed by a bridge out. Shortly after law enforcement reported s tornado. When I caught back up to the storm, there was nothing I could see in the occasional tree breaks that said wow. For an hour after dark a kept up with it. Lots of lightning activity made visibility surprisingly pretty good… but nada.
