AFRICA report & The MIDWEST tonight

Looks like storms should pop in the Midwest in a few hours. SPC has issued a 10% Sig Tor around the Ohio River Valley. The NAM resolved supercells around Chicago. Could be a close to or after dark event. Stay safe those in the risk area. Stay extra safe those chasing.

Some bizarre obs… it’s warmer in Wisconsin right now in February than it is where we are in South Africa in the peak of Summertime. (We are in the Drakensberg Mountains).

PREVIOUSLY IN KRUGER NATIONAL PARK we did not see any cheetahs or rhinos. We saw everything else.

Even though you’ve seen a hundred documentaries and ten thousand photos of these iconic creatures, your mind explodes when you see them in their African wilderness. The baby elephants are adorable as they goof around, the giraffes are like nothing else and there’s truly something about lions. They are magnificent beyond words and live up to all their hype. I’m hooked! More on the lush beauty of this country’s nature, scenery and people when I’m back.

SATURDAY I ARRIVE IN THE STATES with a clear schedule. For the next 4 months, we chase the ultimate game.

AFRICA report & The MIDWEST tonight

Comments

I'm sad to hear about Texas. I hope you all stay safe! Was going to post about Hank's Wisconsin comment. We went from 75 degrees to 15 in about 12 hours (actual air temp with subzero wind chills). I hope Africa's warmer than us now!

Matthew Pfluger

As of 7PM, 2/28 the Smokehouse Creek fire is estimated to be over 1M acres. There are several other large fires burning, and it looks a larger fire is burning in Nebraska as well. The fires, plus the tornados in the Mid-West are taxing the first responders, so keep them in your thoughts.

Mike Castles

Hey just saw news that there's a huge fire in Texas! Is everyone here ok? I also saw there were devastating tornadoes too. We had a warm spell here in SE PA. But not a record that I know of. We have rain and wind now that will drop the temperature back to normal by tomorrow.

Janine Moss

What kind of tornadoes are you seeing in South Africa? Have you seen any zebras yet fly through the air?

Wendy Raschke

When I saw the cattle stampeding and the fire behind them, I wept uncontrollably.

What an amazing experience! One for the old bucket, no doubt! Stay safe. Overland Park, ks saw temps near 80 yesterday and we woke up this morning with a dusting of snow...talk about bizarre! 😳

Tornado Ali

Sounds like a great trip. Don't know if you have seen the situation in the panhandle is not good. Wildfires raging across from Amarillo to TX/OK border.

Mike Castles

Hope you and Nat are having a great time!! Can’t wait for the videos😁😁

Anna Shepard

So happy for you. 😀

BradCat

Tons of hornbills including ground hornbills. Wow!

Pecos Hank

Sounds amazing! I’m so happy for you. It’s fun to live vicariously through your travels.

Barbara Jeffries

The cheetahs must have been too fast. See any Hornbills? Any good storms?
