Knowing when and where to move the lens so you can tell the story later in the edit. Great glass helps, but you've got nothing without what's in the SOOC.

2024-03-30 13:15:21 +0000 UTCOk. I'll start. Yes the technology is miraculous and gets better every day but, to me anyway, it isn't even secondary to composition, color, context, blah blah blah. Everybody sounds good on a $90,000. piano but your work would shine if you used a Kodak Brownie because you were in the right place at the right time and you had a plan, a plan informed by thousands of hours of practice. The nuances of the gear are mostly wasted on me--I don't think it's the gear that distinguishes your work from, e.g., the $4.3M Rhine II, and I hope you'll speak to those differences in a future chat.
