The 2024 Goal List

Well at the time I’m writing this, I’m about 75% done with the primarily production of a video on SunOS and NIS. I’ve been chipping away at it all last week, but its slow going. In parallel, I’ve been listening to audiobooks, and been working on finalizing my realistic goals for 2024.

So far, my list looks like this:

 * At least 50,000 subscribers on YouTube (10k+ from where I am now)

* At least 2,000 followers on Mastodon (500 from where I am now)

* At least 4 videos in a year

* A return to streaming

* Patron income to $750 monthly.

* Getting back to a better weight

* A stable place to live.

As far as goals go, I'm keeping it very modest, primarily because I don't know what my living situation is going to look like through the year. I have at this point a more firm idea of where I will be, but the when is still "ehhhh"

Either way, I’ll probably write articles on each over the next few weeks.

Anything past this I’m considering a welcome bonus. That said, I’m having some doubts about quality of what I’m putting out now.

I know I can be something of a perfectionist, but I just feel like I’m making mechanical works. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, especially since people seem to still enjoy it, but it would be nice if it satisfying for the soul as well.

However, every author has had to put works out just to eat, and I am not an exception.

More present day me is largely struggling to function. After several weeks of ‘good’, I crashed. It’s already getting better, but healing is a frustratingly non-linear process.

It isn't helped by having a circadian rhythm disorder either.

Oh well. So it goes.

It’s a part of the process of trying to rebuild after waking up, and finding everything around you is ash.

However, tabula rosa has some advantages. I have been working on some personal and offline goals as well.

One big one is to catch up on my reading. I had started with getting my library card and checking out some classics of American literature like Catch-22, and Great Gatsy.

More recently, I've picked up audiobooks, which I find is much easier to keep on in the background.

Got to say, the Saturday just listening to the words of Thích Nhất Hạnh was well wpent.

Its nice to be able to see progress in real time, instead of only in hindsight.

Moving forward, the next two N's Life articles are already drafted although they need heavy revisions. I'm somewhat struggling to bring the SunOS/NIS video home to roost, but the last two weeks have been exceptionally busy.

I'm pretty optimistic I'll have it out before the end of March though and likely much sooner; there isn't THAT much left to do.
