First WIP/breakdown of Soul Sand.
Using Substance Designer here. Basically I am using simple shapes to create a face pattern, then I use a Tile Sampler to populate that pattern across a texture space. After this I add detail, as well as the color/normal/more technical stuff.
There's a lot of iteration to this as I have to test it ingame and see if it works, or if it's too busy, or too out of place etc
