There is no Drug in my Cooking! Chapter 24

The muscles in the legs of a giant frog are the best quality of the whole frog and the front legs are clearly of higher quality compared to the hind legs.

Frog meat is high in protein, calcium, and phosphorus, making it beneficial for the growth and development of young people and for relieving menopausal osteoporosis. It also contains trace elements like vitamin E, zinc, and selenium, which can help to delay the aging process, moisturize the skin, and prevent and treat cancer. Overall, frog meat is a nutritious and healthy food choice.

In addition to being high in nutrients, frog meat has a cool, salty taste and is non-toxic. It is believed to nourish vital energy and treat spleen deficiency, as well as to alleviate toothaches caused by yin deficiency, low back pain, and chronic diarrhea. Frog meat is especially suitable for people with low protein anemia and low energy. Overall, it is a nourishing and therapeutic food choice.

Ichiyo decided not to use any other cooking method, opting instead to use a huge outdoor barbecue skewer to string the food together and brush oil on both sides as it turned to grill. It turns out that Mr. Tadokoro had bought these tools when he requested two blankets for wasteland girls and Ichiyo didn't expect to use them so soon.

Previously, when making barbecues for Kumoko-chan to eat, Ichiyo had only added a small amount since the total quantity was not large and he didn't eat it himself. However, this time, as the ingredient was completely new, he was fully focused and carried the barbecue fire to the backyard, the small alley where they usually used to throw garbage and receive deliveries.

The fire was just the right size, casting a flickering light that made the surrounding walls appear bright and dark as if some mysterious organization was holding a secret meeting.

It was said that a few months ago on Valentine's Day, a group of people wearing black cloaks and holding torches appeared in Akihabara, separating every couple they saw. At the time, some media speculated that it was the emergence of a new cult worshipping evil spirits, but it was later revealed to be a large-scale prank.

As Ichiyo's thoughts wandered, the giant frog legs were grilled until they made a loud explosion sound and were tinged with a slight brownish-yellow color. He quickly used a small knife to cut the barbecue to release some blood and water, then brushed it with oil until it was brownish yellow.

As the giant frog leg neared completion, Ichiyo, under the anxious gaze of Kumoko-chan, grabbed a seasoning and sprinkled it on top. Worried that the large leg might not be thoroughly seasoned, he applied another layer of sauce.

"Ichiyo, this giant frog leg might be poisonous. I'm a Spider, so I have poison resistance. How about letting me try it first?"

The barbecue aroma drifted on the night wind, filling the air with its heavenly scent. As the aroma spread, the lights in the residential area around Totsuki Gourmet Street gradually lit up. It was clear that many people would not be able to sleep tonight, tantalized by the delicious smell wafting through the air.

Even if they had already eaten dinner, the tantalizing aroma of the barbecue was enough to make anyone's mouth water and stomach growl, regardless of whether they were truly hungry or not.

Ichiyo didn't pay much attention to the occasional kind greetings that came with the wind. He believed that everyone is just a person with two legs, two arms, and a head and that it is impossible for everyone to be good. He reasoned that if there were no exceptions, the goodness of good people would be meaningless.

The greetings of those people did not interfere with Ichiyo's late-night snack, and he was not concerned about the possibility of being reported. After all, this was a food street, where the aroma of cooking was not only expected but also part of the signature. There was no need to be afraid of anything!

Most of the people who lived in this area were wealthy gourmets from all over the country. While they may have spoken kindly and harmoniously during the day, Ichiyo knew that they might search all over the food street early the next morning, seeking revenge for being disturbed by the aroma of his cooking.

It is easy to get along with people when you share a common goal. In a sense, these people are quite cute, even if they are enemies. After all, it is better to confront a genuine villain than to offend a false gentleman.

"Go to the kitchen and bring out all the remaining bottles of my aroma oil and two large plates."

It took four or five hours to complete, with Ichiyo sending Kumoko-chan back to her dimension multiple times in order to save her stay time in this world. As he saw the barbecue almost finished, Ichiyo swallowed his saliva and became even more focused.

Kumoko-chan was more than willing to obey her cheap master's instructions, eagerly doing it one hundred times over. With all eight of her spider legs exerting their strength, she slipped into the kitchen through the back door. After scurrying around and making a mess, she brought out the remaining bottles of aroma oil and crawled to Ichiyo's side, staring at the barbecue with wide eyes.

It was yet to be seen if this frog leg would be enough to satiate Kumoko-chan's current appetite, not to mention it was too fragrant for her to resist!

Finally, with the last stroke of oil, the base of the barbecue was ignited by the sparks in the charcoal fire. Ichiyo raised his arms, lifted the entire giant frog leg, skewers and all, from the barbecue rack and placed it on the table that was prepared in advance. In a flash of white light, Kumoko-chan had already jumped onto the table and took a big bite of the barbecue.

"Hot, hot, hot... huff, huff, huff..."

The delicious taste filled Kumoko-chan's mouth and she happily squinted her eyes. "So delicious!"

Ichiyo watched Kumoko with surprise as she moved with uncharacteristic speed. He thought to himself, 'What the hell is wrong with this speed? I've never seen her move this fast before.'

But that wasn't the only thing that caught his attention.

"Could you at least practice some hygiene? Do you even know how to wash your hands? And brush your teeth? And why did you just bite right into it like that? Don't you know your mouth is poisonous?" Ichiyo reprimanded Kumoko.

Ichiyo quickly grabbed a knife and cut off a chunk of the roasted frog meat, roughly about five jin, and placed it on his own plate. He glared at the spider across from him, as he himself wants to have a taste of this BBQ he just prepared.

The spider sheepishly chuckled, trying to play it off. "Well, the meat of this frog was so hard to eat before, and I already took a bite out of it. I was just worried it might still be poisonous and poison you, Ichiyo," explained Kumoko-chan, trying to make excuse for her behavior.

"Get out of here!" Ichiyo growled in response.

Ichiyo was not impressed with Kumoko-chan's excuse. He knew that she was looking at the roast meat on his plate with a hot gaze, coveting the food he had just prepared. It was as if she was eating from her own bowl while eyeing someone else's bowl hungrily!

"With your greed and venomous nature, you are destined to be single in the future. Who would dare to like you?" Ichiyo scolded Kumoko-chan.

The spider lowered her head and took another big bite of roast meat, happily squinting her eyes and waving her spider limb indifferently. "Anyway, I'm just a spider now, I don't care whether anyone likes it or not. Living alone is actually pretty good, Ichiyo. You can rest assured that your cooking is so delicious. In the future, when I have a higher rank, I will cover you and bring the best ingredients to you!" Kumoko-chan reassured Ichiyo, showing her appreciation for his cooking skills.
