IBHJ Chapter 772
Added 2024-04-01 04:19:06 +0000 UTCAs the shock wore off, Chloe couldn't help but find the situation laughable. It was glaringly obvious, wasn't it? The fire giants, as inhabitants of this Connection Point, were neither part of the Council nor wielders of the Second Magic. How could they possibly travel to other worlds? It was simply impossible - a ludicrous delusion, akin to an arrogant fool dreaming of becoming the king of the entire world, with all six billion people worshipping him on sight. Equally absurd.
Shirou said, "They plan to use Ogelmir to cross over and invade our world."
The noisy meeting fell silent as everyone turned to look at him.
"Ogelmir... what's that?" Chloe and Illya asked curiously. Brynhildr, however, as Odin's daughter, wore a solemn expression. "The Primordial Giant?"
"Ogelmir, that's another name for the Primordial Giant Ymir. How did you come to know this?" Brynhildr asked.
Shirou rubbed his temples, his mind troubled and his head spinning. How could he explain it - that dream? It was difficult to put into words. Was everything in that dream even real?
He raised his right hand, his gaze seeming to pierce through the gauntlet, focusing on the Command Spell etched on the back of his hand.
"My King," Galahad stepped forward, his tone solemn, "Those giant troops are incredibly well-trained and powerful. If we hope to prevent them from invading Pan-Human History, I'm afraid we won't be able to do it on our own."
Shirou turned to Galahad. "Do you have any suggestions, then?"
He knew Galahad was right. Anyone who had witnessed the caliber of the fire giant army would likely come to the same conclusion. This was no ordinary army by any means. If a comparison had to be made, it was probably an army that could only be trained by a leader with "Charisma A" or higher. Such an army would easily number over 300,000 strong. How could any individual stand against that?
"This is a war between worlds, a battle for the very survival of our realities. My King, please, summon my father - summon the Knights of the Round Table!"
Shirou's brows knitted together, his expression tense. Galahad glanced at the people around them, wanting to say something but hesitating. His eyes finally settled on Shirou, and in that moment, Shirou understood what Galahad wanted to say. With a deep furrow in his brow, he spoke plainly, "I'm still upset, Galahad."
Hearing this, Galahad offered some advice, "My king, much of what happened in the past was due to circumstances beyond our control. My hands, too, are stained with the blood of my comrades."
"That's not what I'm upset about. It's..." Shirou's voice dropped, "about Mordred."
At the mention of Mordred's name, Galahad fell silent. He understood that this was a personal matter for Shirou, and it wouldn't be right for him to get involved.
"You guys head down first. I need some time to think alone," Shirou said. Hearing this, Galahad and the others took their leave, giving Shirou some space to think. Galahad hadn't been in contact with Shirou for a long time, but he knew exactly what was bothering him.
"Hey, why did Oniichan's face get so serious when he talked about Mordred?" Chloe asked curiously.
"How should I know? But now that you mention it, even though they don't seem to get along, Mordred is Artoria-neesan's daughter, right? And Shirou-niisan is the Eternal King. According to the legend of King Arthur... Could it be that Mordred is Shirou-niisan's daughter?" Illya's eyes grew wide.
"No way, that can't be right. Oniichan is from the same era as us."
"Hmm, you're right. But there's also time travel, so..."
"What? You're saying Oniichan traveled to the past, then came back, became a Heroic Spirit, and this Heroic Spirit is still alive? Ugh, my brain hurts. It's too confusing. I need Miyu's brain to make sense of it," Chloe said, feeling dizzy.
"But if you think about it, if Mordred is oniichan's daughter, wouldn't that make Artoria-neesan..."
Galahad nodded and added, "You're right, what you're thinking is correct."
"Huh?" Illya looked at Galahad suspiciously and asked, "Wait, is it just me, or do you still remember us, Galahad? That's strange. You shouldn't be able to."
Galahad nodded and explained, "It might be because I gave my Saint Graph to Mash back then, so I still have memories of all of you."
"This is great news. I thought you had forgotten about us and considered us strangers, so I didn't want to bother you," Illya said, smiling.
As the three of them chatted, Salter, who was trailing behind, glanced back at the room. She had noticed that Shirou was deeply troubled and felt a twinge of concern. However, she ultimately remained silent.
She wasn't from the same place as them; she was just someone from a different world. An outsider. Still, the fact that her parallel world counterpart would actually do something similar to Morgan Le Fay was truly a headache.
As Salter suspected, Shirou was indeed deeply troubled. He knew that to stand a chance against Surtr's army of fire giants, he had no choice but to summon his entire kingdom. However, there was a difficult hurdle to overcome in his heart.
Lost in thought, he found himself unconsciously standing at the door of the operating room. He understood the reason for his mind being all over the place. Surtr's army of fire giants was one factor, but the most important problems were the strange dream reset, the Command Spells that had inexplicably appeared on the back of his hand, and the increasingly clear, yet ambiguous connection with Skadi.
He had thought his path was clear, but now it seemed more chaotic than ever. The further he walked, the more twisted it became, and the more twisted it became, the more he had to keep walking.
Just then, the door to the operating room opened, and Morrigan walked out. She looked at him curiously and asked, "Eternal King, what brings you here?"
Shirou pushed aside his jumbled thoughts and asked, "How's she doing?"
"You mean Skadi?"
He nodded.
"Hmm. Hel didn't just sever the tendons in her body, but also the soul and mind's control over it. Basically, she severed the soul's hands and feet, so even if her body is healed, she won't be able to move."
Shirou wasn't sure what expression to wear on his face.
"But don't worry. I am Morrigan, and my specialty is soul engineering. Naturally, I can easily solve a problem of this level, hohoho."
She put her hands on her hips, looking smug and pleased with herself. Seeing her like this made Shirou burst out laughing. She was definitely a far cry from the Morgan he remembered.
"Well, I won't take up any more of your time. There's no Coke, no chips, and no anime or games here. I'm bored out of my mind. I'm heading back to Chaldea."
"Oh? You can go back to Chaldea? Has the connection problem been solved?"
"Of course not. I'm just a bit special," she smiled. "Before Illya and Chloe came to this connection point, I gave them a blessing. They summoned this clone of mine through the blessing. It's kind of like how a Servant and Heroic Spirit work. If I want to return to my main body, I just need to withdraw my projected consciousness, like logging out of an online game."
Shirou nodded, realizing that her existence was somehow similar to his own situation.
"Hmm. Anyway, I'm going back to Chaldea. If anything comes up, just ask Illya to summon me again," she said, turning to leave.
"Wait!" Shirou reached out and grabbed her wrist.
