IBHJ Chapter 795

"Well then, see you next time, Shirou. If you can survive under Surtr's sword, that is. But it should be impossible. Hahaha, after all, Surtr, that guy is a remnant of ancient times, just like the Runes of Wisdom." With those words, the Sixth Seat prepared to disappear, his body already beginning to fade from view.
"Bastard!" Shirou cursed, unwilling to let him escape. His anger spread to the dragon and the Runes of Wisdom on his forehead emitted a faint glow. Strange runes spread from his body to the entire throne, their arcane symbols etching themselves into the ancient stone. The ferocious dragon head below the throne roared at the Sixth Seat, its mouth spewing out a huge magical cannon. The cannon charged straight towards the Sixth Seat, its energy beam cutting through the air like a searing blade.
Seeing this, the Sixth Seat mockingly said, "How can such a thing hurt me?"
He was about to sneer confidently, but in the next moment, his body was vaporized by the huge magical cannon. "Impossible! Wait, the Runes of Wisdom! Damn it! I was actually destroyed by a lowly monkey? Damn it, damn it! This humiliation...!" The Sixth Seat screamed as he was destroyed by the cannon shot from the dragon, his form disintegrating into glowing embers.
As the Sixth Seat's vessel was destroyed by the dragon, his control over Skadi and Scathach was also lifted, their bodies slumping forward as the strings of his influence were severed. His cursing stopped when his head disintegrated into ashes, scattered by the winds.
Shirou dismissed the dragon and landed on the ground with a gloomy face. He took a few deep breaths to adjust his mood, then approached Skadi and Scathach. "Are you okay, Shisho?"
Skadi and Scathach both shook their heads. "Now that the council member's gone, the dream realm is back to normal," Scathach said. "The injuries we got here won't affect the real world."
But she looked at him with concern. She knew everything about Eternal Kingdom and was also aware of what happened to Mordred. She just never expected the real culprit to be that Council bastard.
"I'm fine," Shirou said, shaking his head. But his hand was clenched into a tight fist, his fingernails digging into his palm hard enough to draw blood.
"Let's head inside and rest for a bit," he suggested. Skadi and Scathach nodded. He helped his two shisho into the factory and then returned to the office alone. Scathach wanted to follow him, but Skadi grabbed her wrist.
"What's wrong?" Scathach asked curiously.
"I don't know what happened, but right now, it's best to let him calm down on his own," Skadi said.
Scathach hesitated for a moment, then nodded and sat back down, looking at Skadi. "You know, you seem pretty cold on the surface, but you're actually quite considerate of others. Honestly, I can hardly believe that you're me."
"I'm not you to begin with," Skadi said coldly.
Shirou returned to the office and let himself be immersed in silence. Just as Skadi said, he needed some quiet time. He had found his enemy. The enemy that drove his past self insane in the dream, the enemy that destroyed his kingdom and schemed against Artoria and Mordred.
He frowned and started tapping on the table. That Sixth Seat was just too powerful. Even with Eternal King's power, if they faced each other in the real world, he'd be no match for him. What was he supposed to do? Shirou had no idea, but he knew the answer had to be connected to the Eternal King. Even though Eternal King couldn't beat the Sixth Seat, the guy's words showed he was still wary of the Eternal King.
But why? Eternal King wasn't a true fighting force, but a vessel. But what kind of vessel? As Shirou thought about it, he looked down and saw the spiral he'd unconsciously drawn on his notebook. His heart skipped a beat. Could this vessel be created to store the invisible vortex deep within his soul?
And what did the Sixth Seat mean by calling him a thief? What had he stolen before? Shirou was completely stumped. He had no memory of this. Either the Sixth Seat was lying, talking nonsense, or it was something he hadn't remembered yet from the endless cycles of reset and reincarnation. Shirou didn't know, but one thing was clear - he had to defeat the Council and take out the Sixth Seat.
Knock, knock, knock! Suddenly, there was a knocking sound outside the door. Was it his Shisho? Shirou smoothed his frown and sat back in his chair. "Come in."
The door swung open, and his eyes widened in surprise. In a flash, a handgun emerged from the shadows. Before he could react, a 9mm silver-tipped hollow-point round sliced through the air with a bang, piercing his ribcage.
With a thud, he collapsed backwards, chair clattering to the floor. Through hazy vision, his gaze landed on the shell casing that clinked as it bounced at the feet of the figure in the doorway. That distinct silver - he recognized it instantly. The same unique hand-loaded rounds that had killed Mother of Mifune!
Shirou collapsed in a pool of blood, the gunshot still ringing in his ears. "Damn it, is this really how it ends?" he thought. "In this reset world, is this the final outcome? It's just too frustrating, If I'm going to die like this, at least I want to know who killed me."
He struggled to lift his head but could only make out the gun that shot him - a silver Beretta 92FS. Shirou knew it wasn't because another outsider had come into his dream and was messing with it again, but because his past life self hadn't gotten a clear look at the shooter before dying. Still, he could hear a faint, hazy conversation coming from the door.
"The appearance of an illusory historical bubble like Eternal King shows that ■■■■■ still hasn't completely transcended his ■■■■■, allowing ■■■■■ to interfere with the present world. If it were really those ■■■■■ from outer space, they'd be just as ■■■■■ as that guy and wouldn't interfere at all. But ■■■■■, that fairy's power has also been exhausted. The next time should be the last ■■■■■."
Another voice chimed in, "You're finally about to win this ■■■■■ war. Congrats, ■■■■■. But don't forget our deal."
A hazy humanoid figure appeared behind the door. Shirou stared intently at it, the outline all too familiar. Even though he couldn't see clearly, he recognized it - it was none other than that council bastard he'd fought earlier, the Sixth Seat!
"Are you worried that Eternal King will really be born? It's already the final step. Are you still worried about a miracle happening? That's understandable. If that kind of vessel is born and ■■■■■, it would definitely become a huge problem ■■■■■."
"But don't worry, I'll make sure that doesn't happen. That's why you summoned me, isn't it? It's time to go. ■■■■■ ■■■■■ Saver is coming. Neither of us stand a chance against him if we ■■■■■ face him right now. Having to set up the medium for ■■■■■ again, this ■■■■■ class can be a real pain sometimes." With that, the two figures disappeared.
Thump, thump, thump! Hurried footsteps echoed outside the door. With a creak, the door was roughly pushed open, and Skadi and Scathach burst into the room. They immediately spotted Shirou lying in a pool of blood, their eyes widening in shock.
"Shirou!" Scathach shouted, quickly rushing over and picking him up from the bloody mess.
"It's okay. It's just a forced event in the dream. It won't affect me," Shirou shook his head. Holding onto her arm, he sat up and said somewhat helplessly, "Looks like this is the end of the dream, though."
He was right - reaching this point meant the dream was over. But they still hadn't found the clue to Skadi obtaining the Runes of Wisdom. If they couldn't find it in the dream and restore her memories, the real-world Skadi would disappear.
He sighed...
