IBHJ Chapter 796
Added 2024-04-22 06:00:44 +0000 UTCSeeing Shirou's dejected expression, Skadi suddenly retreated with a dazed look on her face. Her strange behavior caught Shirou and Scathach's attention. He looked at Skadi with concern and asked, "What's wrong, Skadi?"
"No. It's nothing," Skadi shook her head and replied coldly.
"Did you remember something?" he pressed.
"It's impossible to remember anything. Your actions were meaningless from the start. I am Skadi, the last Nordic god, not your mentor, Scathach. Dispel this dream right now. There's a place you need to return to in reality, Eternal King."
"But then..."
"There's nothing wrong with using the Black Grail. Or do you want to take it from me right now? I won't resist, Eternal King. If you want it, now's your best chance, while I'm at my weakest," she said coldly.
He was confused. They had gotten along quite well before, but why was Skadi even colder and more indifferent than before? Did she remember something? It felt too strange. With his restored memories, he clearly remembered how soft and warm his teacher was in the reset world, but the Skadi in front of him now was as cold as snow.
"If you understand, then dispel the dream and leave this place. I'll be going ahead," Skadi turned around and left decisively.
Looking at her retreating back, he was a bit at a loss.
"Looks like you've angered her, Shirou," Scathach chuckled, covering her mouth.
He scratched the back of his head and sighed, then sat down and looked at Scathach, who was laughing at him. He said helplessly, "Shisho, don't always tease me like this. If you keep it up, I'll switch the dream and bring in the Eternal King."
Hearing this, Scathach's expression stiffened, and she said gloomily, "You're no fun, Shirou."
He laughed and Scathach became even more gloomy. She reached out and pinched his cheeks, saying fiercely, "I should have taught you more about respecting your teacher back then."
"Alright, I'll give you another chance to teach me. When you come back to my side," he said with a smile.
"Then I'll definitely come back soon," Scathach also laughed, then turned her head to look in the direction Skadi had left. "But I really didn't expect something like this to happen."
She sighed. "Even if she can't remember some things, her soul will still hold onto them. And Shirou, you probably don't have much energy to spare thinking about these things, right?" Skadi looked into his eyes, her gaze gentle.
"Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Your teacher and the others will be right by your side to help you," she said, smiling.
Hearing this, his expression turned gloomy. "But you didn't respond to my summoning before."
"Ah, that. Well, I just wanted to tease you a bit," she said, closing her right eye playfully.
"Shisho...!" Shirou's face darkened. So that's how it was. He had been so worried before!
"Sorry, sorry. It's just that when you recklessly absorbed that dragon invader in Fuyuki and disappeared for thirteen years, I was honestly a bit angry. I don't know what Gilgamesh and Solomon were thinking, but the idea of you facing such an enemy alone made me furious. Furious enough to want to kill you myself."
"I'm sorry, Shisho," he said, feeling a bit apologetic. He didn't realize that his willfulness back then had made her so worried.
"Now that you know, it's all good. My Shirou isn't an arrogant or conceited Shirou, but a Shirou who knows his limits and can command the power of others. So, when facing the Council, facing that Sixth Seat, don't let anger cloud your judgment and try to face them alone. If you do it that way, you have no chance of winning," Skadi said, her smile gentle.
He smiled back and nodded.
Suddenly, the sky above them burst into a dazzling display of golden light, as if the heavens themselves had opened up to illuminate the world below. The brilliance was so intense that it seemed to chase away the hazy atmosphere, replacing it with a clarity that was almost painful to behold. In stark contrast, a massive shadow fell across the earth, engulfing everything in its path.
Shirou couldn't help but laugh as he looked up at the sight unfolding above them. "I see," he said, his voice tinged with a mix of amusement and resignation. "This is the true executor of the world reset."
Skadi joined him in laughter, her eyes also fixed on the sky. "So that's why Saver appeared in Fuyuki City."
There, in the midst of the golden light, stood the majestic figure of Buddha. His face was a picture of compassion and calm, seemingly untouched by the chaos that raged around the world. His gaze swept over all the living beings below him with a sense of infinite wisdom and understanding.
With a gentle movement, the Enlightened One made a Dharma mudra, his fingers forming a sacred gesture. Behind him, immeasurable light began to shine, casting a glow that seemed to emanate from another world entirely. Slowly, deliberately, he struck out with his Dharma finger.
The seven chakravartin behind the Enlightened One responded to his call, multiplying and emitting a light that covered the entire sky. The pressure of their presence began to bear down upon the earth.
"Rumble! Rumble!"
As the light grew in intensity, the world around them began to dissolve. The earth, the sky, the very ideas and culture that had shaped their existence started to disappear, breaking down into spiritrons. This was not a physical attack, but rather one that transcended the boundaries of dimensions and perceptions. It was not a destruction of the planet, but a purification of everything that existed upon it.
This was the Enlightened One's Noble Phantasm, a manifestation of his power through the Saver class. In the face of such a force, all defenses and abilities, buffs and enhancements were rendered useless. There was no escape, no resistance, only the inevitable purification that awaited them all.
The most terrifying aspect of this Noble Phantasm was that its destructive power would expand as the scale of human history expanded. There was no way to resist "Amita Amitābha". The only option was to endure it, and the only ones who could endure it were those who were neither living beings nor humans.
However, even so, the possibility of enduring it was only one in 56.7 million. In the Moon Cell Holy Grail War, someone happened to step on this possibility due to the protagonist's halo and cleared the Moon Cell Holy Grail War. But right now, this was just a dream, so Shirou didn't need to worry about being purified by "Amita Amitābha". It's just that the appearance of the Enlightened One made things even more confusing.
Shirou had always thought that the Council was behind the world's reset, but the truth was that it was the Enlightened One. If the Enlightened One was the mastermind behind the scenes, that was also impossible. Enlightened One had no emotions or desires. In other words, Enlightened One had no purpose or motivation for doing this. Moreover, based on the previous exchange between the Sixth Seat and the mysterious person, they were very wary of the Enlightened One. As soon as they sensed that Enlightened One was coming, they immediately ran away.
So what role was the Enlightened One playing? And why did he appear in Fuyuki City? When Fuyuki was invaded, what did his last words to Shirou mean? Shirou didn't know, but these were questions he had to face in the future! In order to protect the things he held dear, he had to walk this path!
"Thanks to the Enlightened One, the dream world has completely ended. I'm going to leave, Shisho," Shirou said, looking at Scathach.
"Mm." Scathach nodded and smiled at him. "Be careful on your way, Shirou."
Comments
Nice to see this dream finally come to an end. Although we still have quite a few questions left. At least the talk with Scathach was nice.
