IBHJ Chapter 800
Added 2024-04-24 05:54:21 +0000 UTCSuddenly, the serpent's jaws parted, and to their astonishment, it spoke in a language they could understand. The voice was a thunderous rumble, shaking the very earth beneath their feet and reverberating through their bones. "Odin's divinity..." Jörmungandr hissed, each word dripping with venom and hatred. "Odin, our grudge has festered for far too long. It ends here, today, I shall rid the Nine Worlds of your presence!"
Jörmungandr let out a long, bone-chilling howl and opened its gaping maw, revealing rows of sharp teeth, each as large as a grown giant. From the depths of its throat, a swirling vortex of pure, unrestrained mana burst out, rushing towards Shirou like a tidal wave of destruction. The mana storm crackled with energy, its sheer power causing the ground to tremble and the air to vibrate.
"Oniichan, be careful!" Illya and Chloe shouted.
However, just as the mana storm was about to hit Shirou, the rainbow light surrounding him flashed again, getting so bright it was blinding. In an instant, several rainbow-colored shields materialized around him, their surfaces shimmering with an otherworldly luster. The shields formed a protective barrier, resembling a majestic rainbow bridge coiled around a divine being. When the mana storm crashed into the shields, they calmly absorbed the immense bombardment, the rainbow light pulsing with each impact, as if it were alive and breathing.
Jörmungandr's serpentine eyes narrowed to slits. "Asgard's Bifrost? That's impossible..."
"You done? My turn now." Shirou calmly looked at Jörmungandr, holding Rhongomyniad steady. His face was calm, his eyes locked on the flickering light spot on Jörmungandr's forehead - the Origin Wheel that Odin had hidden inside the serpent's body. Staring intently at that spot, his body suddenly emitted a rich black light, spreading out like a plague around the poisonous fog and straight toward Jörmungandr's body. In an instant, the World Serpent's sturdy body suddenly softened and decayed.
[Skadi's Blessing - Höðr: Curse the enemy, causing their body to age and decay]
[Skadi's Blessing - Loki: Curse the enemy, causing them to weaken and become confused]
Jörmungandr raised its head and let out a deafening roar. A massive thunderbolt shot out from its mouth, blasting towards Shirou with world-destroying might. It was a truly terrifying sight. However, just as it was about to touch Shirou, the thunderbolt split in two and flew off in different directions.
[Skadi's Blessing - Thor: Grant immunity against Lightning]
Seeing this, Illya and Chloe were stunned. The powerful Jörmungandr couldn't seem to harm Shirou at all. What was going on?
"What's happening?" Chloe asked, looking puzzled.
"It's the blessing of the gods."
"Blessing of the gods?" Illya and Chloe turned to Brynhildr, confusion written on their faces.
Brynhildr stretched out her hand, counting the blessings on Shirou's body. "Father's blessing, Mother's blessing, Lord Thor's blessing, Lord Tyr's blessing, Lady Freyja's blessing... there are so many!"
As she counted, Brynhildr grew more and more surprised. Eventually, she couldn't keep track of them all. "I've never seen so many divine blessings on a single person before!"
"But Skadi is the only goddess in this Connecting Point. Why would niisan have so many blessings? Could it be that the gods blessed him in Pan-Human History? That doesn't make sense either. The gods of Pan-Human History disappeared along with the Age of Gods. They can't even manifest, so how could they bestow blessings?" Illya's face was a picture of confusion.
"I don't know either, Master. Besides, my father and that gloomy Höðr wouldn't easily bestow blessings, especially not on a mortal. Why...?" Brynhildr looked just as confused.
Their confusion was understandable. In reality, Shirou hadn't received blessings from multiple gods. He had only been blessed by one goddess. Worried that he might experience another setback like the one in her dream, the teacher who had already become a goddess used her remaining power to bestow all the divine blessings on him. This was the truth behind the numerous blessings he had.
Goddess are known for their aloofness. While they may love humans, they are often stingy with their power. But she was different. Her only concern and worry was that he would be hurt again.
Looking at the cursed Jörmungandr, Shirou knew that even in this state, the Midgard Serpent was still incredibly powerful, surpassing Nidhogg. If he only used his lance, he might not be able to kill it in one strike, and that would be too time-consuming. He wanted to quickly deal with Jörmungandr and resolve the matter of this connection point, so he could take Skadi to Chaldea. She feared loneliness the most, yet she had wandered alone in this desolate, icy world for over two thousand years, surrounded by enemies and allies who wanted her dead. This didn't sit right with him. So, he had to end everything as quickly as possible. With this in mind, he slowly stretched out his hand and snapped his fingers.
Instead of using [Imperial Privilege EX] as usual, he used [Heroic Mortal C+]. Compared to [Imperial Privilege EX], [Heroic Mortal C+] was relatively weaker and couldn't stack. However, [Imperial Privilege EX] had the limitation of only being able to use three kinds of skills, while [Heroic Mortal C+] had no such restriction. In other words, as long as he had enough mana, he could use [Heroic Mortal C+] to add any skills he had copied to his own body.
[Knight's Strategy]
[Triumphant Return of the Sword]
[Kalaripayattu]
[Mana Burst]
[Instinct]...
Up until now, Shirou's greatest wealth had been the adventure with Arcueid on the path towards the [Root]. Back then, when he was still weak, he used [Heroic Mortal] to copy the unique skills of hundreds of Heroic Spirits. Arcueid had nearly died of exhaustion trying to protect him, while he, young and weak at the time, escaped and obtained this incredibly rich wealth. This vast collection of skills was one of the cornerstones that led to him becoming the Eternal King.
In this moment, Shirou displayed all the skills he had copied from the army of Heroic Spirits on the path to the [Root]. Countless human achievements and divine blessings merged together within him. His mana and skills expanded constantly, and the thrum of aura pouring out from his body made Jörmungandr sense an incomparable threat. It reminded the serpent of Odin, who had sealed it away. Odin had been like this too, merging the divinity of Vanir gods into his own body. Yes, it was this feeling, this hateful feeling of being oppressed!
"Raaaargh...!!!" Jörmungandr's deafening roar echoed through the air as it anxiously and frantically unleashed a barrage of magical cannons, crackling lightning strikes, and raging storms on Shirou. The serpent's relentless assault tore through the surroundings, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. However, none of this could stop Shirou in the slightest as he continued to strengthen himself.
When he had added all the skills he could use to his body, he slightly raised his head and looked at Jörmungandr. The brightly burning flame in his eyes made the serpent feel an incomparable fear.
In fact, the number of skills he had added to himself was truly staggering. If one were to look at them on a game panel, it would be a dense wall of text that could make people sigh in disbelief as they scrolled down the screen. The Rune of Wisdom on his forehead emitted a faint light, and his eyes grew even brighter, as if flames were burning within them.
With a deliberate, almost hypnotic motion, Shirou slowly raised his hand, and the holy lance Rhongomyniad in his grip began to transform. The weapon seemed to compress and condense, its form shifting and changing until it had become the Spear of Endless Light. This divine instrument, forged from the very essence of the universe, radiated an aura of pure, unbridled energy. Its surface shimmered with an iridescent glow, as if countless stars had been woven into the fabric of its being. The spear's tip, sharper than any blade, seemed to pierce the very air itself, leaving ripples of power in its wake.
"Go!" With a fierce thrust, he hurled the Spear of Endless Light towards Jörmungandr. In response, forty shimmering light shields materialized before the serpent, a formidable defensive barrier born from the combined power of the Origin Wheel and Jörmungandr itself. Each shield, capable of deflecting an A-rank Excalibur, stood as a testament to the serpent's immense strength.
However, when the Spear of Endless Light struck, these shields were like paper, destroyed by the spear as easily as a hot knife slices through butter. Then with a resounding "boom," the spear pierced straight through Jörmungandr's head, its tip cleaving through scales, flesh, and bone with terrifying ease. A blinding flash of light erupted from the point of impact, accompanied by a deafening crack as the spear's divine energy surged through the serpent's skull. Crimson ichor sprayed out from the wound, painting the ground in a grotesque display of red.
The moment the spear found its way back to his grip, Jörmungandr, the once-mighty Midgard Serpent, crumpled to the ground, its life extinguished in a single, decisive blow.
One hit kill!
