IBHJ Chapter 805
Added 2024-04-28 03:46:26 +0000 UTC"I have felt your king's sincerity," Bergelmir said, his tone serious as he looked at the fire giant. "Return these to Surtr. If he's the one leading the giants, I believe he will allow the frost giants to survive as well. Go back and tell him that I will break through Eternal King's forces. He just needs to focus on creating the path of survival."
The fire giant nodded. "Thank you very much for your trust. We leave the rest in your hands." With that, he turned and left.
Coming out of the cave, the fire giant noticed he was drenched in a cold sweat. Talking to Bergelmir, a giant among giants, a living myth, the god of war himself... Just having a conversation with him was enough to make anyone's nerves go haywire, but somehow, he'd managed to convince Bergelmir.
The fire giant knew this wasn't because of himself, but because of Surtr. It was by relying on Surtr's prestige and insight that he was able to persuade such a mythical figure. And more than two thousand years ago, Surtr had played this giant of myth and the frost giants in the palm of his hand.
"My king, you are truly amazing!" the fire giant thought to himself.
Returning to Asgard, the fire giant told Surtr about these things.
"Is that so... not bad," Surtr said, giving the fire giant an approving look. "I'm impressed you managed to convince Bergelmir and even keep my hand and the Origin Wheels."
The fire giant bowed his head slightly, "No, no, everything is due to your foresight, my king."
"Since Bergelmir has come out of hiding, I can focus on creating the path to the Pan-Human History. Make sure the army knows to hand over all authority to him when he arrives," Surtr instructed.
"My king..." The fire giant looked a bit hesitant.
"He trusts me, and I trust him. With his personality, he'll definitely want to seize the highest command authority. If we don't hand it over to him in advance, he'll likely kill my generals. There can only be one commander on the battlefield and If conflict ignites between us, we'll inevitably collapse from infighting. Besides, our soldiers and generals greatly admire him, so it won't be difficult for him to command them."
The fire giant nodded in understanding. As he looked at Surtr's back, he silently thought to himself, "My king, you're the only one we truly admire."
...
Bergelmir stepped out of the fire cage, ending a thousand years of self-punishment, and gathered the remaining Frost Giants. The giants erupted in cheers and jubilation, knowing that their god of war had finally emerged from his long period of self-blame. They believed he would once again lead them to glory, just as he had done in ancient times when he led their ancestors across the sea to establish the great Frost Giant kingdom.
"Follow me, everyone! We will rebuild our glory on the bones of humans!" Bergelmir declared confidently.
His confidence stemmed from his past victories more than two thousand years ago, when he led the Frost Giants to defeat the Asgard allied forces, including the renowned Valkyrie Legion, and entered the Pan-Human History. He had single-handedly knocked the arrogant modern humans from their pedestal. Even though the Frost Giants were at their lowest point after losing millions of their kind, Bergelmir remained confident that he could defeat Eternal King's army and lead the giants to re-enter Pan-Human History.
"Bergelmir! Bergelmir!" The Frost Giants shouted, jumping for joy as they called out the name of their great leader.
Bergelmir gathered the roughly 200 Frost Giants and had them pack up their weapons. He broke the agreement with the nearby human villages and raided them, turning the humans into dried food hanging from their waists like strips of bacon. However, due to Hel's "Spring Plan," many of the surrounding villages had already moved inland, so the actual number of villagers captured was not large. But it was enough to provide marching rations for this small team.
Before leaving, one of Surtr's subordinates had already informed Bergelmir about the current situation. Eternal King's army was defending from an advantageous position, with the mountains and sea at their backs. According to the Fire Giant, the commander leading the human army possessed a defensive Noble Phantasm similar to the Fairy Barrier.
"Hmph, just as foolish as those fairies back then. The stronger the city wall, the weaker it is on the inside." Belgemir scoffed. Standing on the gradually melting ice, he gazed at the distant sea. With his eyesight, he could vaguely make out Lord Camelot's glowing castle, shining like the morning star on the other side of the sea.
Bergelmir, the god of war worshipped by the giants, was right across from Alfheim, where the Eternal Army had set up their stronghold. He knew all too well that trying to confront them head-on would be a foolish move, especially when they had such a powerful defensive Noble Phantasm. No, the smart thing to do was to find a way to break through from the back. But first, he had to figure out how to get across the sea.
Turning his head slightly, Bergelmir's gaze fell on the tentacles of the giants' worst nightmare lurking in the Alfheim Sea - the Kraken, a monstrous creature from the depths of the northern waters. This beast was absolutely massive, the embodiment of deep-sea terror. Even the Vanir gods, with all their power, couldn't take it down. Kraken had a particular taste for giant flesh, and its very nature made it a formidable enemy for Bergelmir's kind. In fact, when Odin and his brothers chopped down Yggdrasil, forcing the tens of thousands of Frost Giants to flee into the sea, nearly every single one of them ended up as a snack for Kraken. For the giants, this creature was their ultimate nemesis, an insurmountable obstacle that dominated their fears.
"Alright, warriors, time to teach them a lesson!" Bergelmir bellowed, waving his massive hand as he led the Frost Giants towards their inevitable hell. They rode on wooden rafts they'd prepared in advance, using them like surfboards, their determination unwavering in the face of the looming danger. They knew they had to surpass the limits of their kind if they wanted to tear apart Eternal King's defense line and ensure the survival of their race.
As if sensing the promise of a delicious meal being delivered right to its doorstep, the Kraken, that terrifying embodiment of the deep sea's horrors, instantly became excited. Countless tentacles shot up into the sky, churning the sea into a violent frenzy and creating massive waves that crashed against the giants' rafts. The chaotic waters tore many of the rafts apart, and the unfortunate Frost Giants aboard them were dragged down to the depths by the Kraken's grasping tentacles, meeting their doom and becoming nothing more than a tasty treat for the insatiable beast.
Bergelmir's voice boomed across the sea, "I've conquered you before, and now it's just a replay of history!" He remembered the last time he invaded Pan-Human History. He learned that thousands of Frost Giants fled and met their doom in the Kraken's belly. But a few brave Frost Giants, led by Bergelmir, managed to conquer the beast and build a kingdom near the depths of hell. This time, he was ready to do it all over again.
With a mighty roar that sent shockwaves rippling through the air, Bergelmir grabbed one of the Kraken's tentacles, his muscles bulging with the effort. He pulled the creature from the depths, its enormous head breaking through the surface like a mountain rising from the sea.
Massive waves surged up, towering thousands of miles high. Bergelmir, perched on his wooden raft, rode the terrifying waves, soaring into the sky before crashing down onto the Kraken's head. "Bow before me!" he shouted, smashing the beast with a single, powerful blow.
"Boom!!"
The mighty blow sent the Kraken reeling, its massive tentacles thrashing in pain as it sank deeper into the sea. Bergelmir, standing tall on his raft, watched as the beast disappeared beneath the waves, a satisfied smirk on his face.
Bergelmir turned casually to the Frost Giants behind him, waving his hand. The Frost Giants erupted in worship, chanting his great name.
