Gray, holding a stack of documents, noticed her troubled expression and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Did you get into another fight with that woman?"
She shook her head. "No, nothing like that. If we fought again, my wallet wouldn't be enough to cover the damages. That's why I've been avoiding her."
Gray tilted her head, puzzled. "Then why do you look so worried?"
Artoria sighed heavily, her shoulders slumping. "Actually, I'm troubled about how to approach Mordred. That kid seems to want nothing to do with me and keeps avoiding me. Gray, she must really hate me, right? Because I'm the one who killed her," she said dejectedly, the blonde tuft of hair on her head drooping gloomily.
Gray's eyes widened, and she quickly shook her head. "That's not true! In fact, Mordred also wants to reconcile with you," she said anxiously, her words tumbling out in a rush.
She looked up at Gray, a gentle smile on her face. "Thanks, Gray, for still comforting me like this."
Gray felt a wave of frustration wash over her. Why is she sometimes so dense? she thought to herself, fighting the urge to shake some sense into her.
Artoria's eyes suddenly widened as she took a closer look at Gray. "By the way, Gray, you've shrunk again. Are you sure you're okay?" Her voice was filled with concern. Gray now looked even more petite and delicate than Mordred, like a ten-year-old girl.
Gray smiled reassuringly, trying to ease her worries. "Yes, I'm fine. Please don't worry about me,"
Artoria placed a hand on Gray's shoulder, her eyes serious. "If you have any problems, you have to tell me. We're friends."
"Okay," Gray nodded.
As they continued their walk, Gray couldn't help but sigh at the complexity of Artoria's relationship with Mordred. She knew that there was a lot of pain and hurt between them, but she also believed that there was hope for reconciliation. She silently vowed to do whatever she could to help bridge the gap between them, even if it meant pushing Artoria out of her comfort zone.
Meanwhile, Artoria's thoughts were still focused on Mordred. She knew that she had made mistakes in the past, and she desperately wanted to make things right. But she also knew that it wouldn't be easy. Mordred was stubborn and proud, just like her, and it would take a lot of work to break through the walls that had been built up over the years.
At this moment, Morrigan came running towards Artoria and Gray, her face flushed and her breath coming in short gasps. She stopped beside a window, desperately clinging to it with her hand as she tried to catch her breath.
Gray, noticing her distress, couldn't help but offer some advice. "Miss Morrigan, you should strengthen your body with physical training. Always being a homebody will result in poor physical fitness. Speaking of which, hasn't Miss Hinako been constantly dragging you to work out? Why don't you go?"
Morrigan looked up at Gray, her eyes wide with disbelief. "Oh my! I was in such a hurry to find you, not to listen to your lecture!" she exclaimed, her voice still breathless. "And you call what Hinako does working out? That's clearly trying to kill me! Last time, she even chased me with a sword, making me run around Chaldea for a full twenty laps, and she called it a warm-up..." She shuddered at the memory, her face turning pale.
Artoria raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. She knew that Hinako could be intense when it came to training, but she also knew that it was all in the name of self-improvement.
Morrigan, sensing Artoria's amusement, quickly changed the subject. "Besides, look at me, no matter how much I eat, I won't get fat." She deliberately stretched out her arm.
Gray tilted her head, a knowing look in her eyes. "You used a spell to remove excess fat and ensure your body stays slim, right?"
Morrigan's eyes widened in surprise, and she took a step back. "H-How did you know?" she stammered, her face turning a deep shade of red.
At this point, Artoria asked curiously, "By the way, Miss Morrigan, what did you need us for? Is it to go to a connection point? We've already exceeded our performance quota for this month. If it's overtime, we better get paid extra."
Morrigan rolled her eyes, exasperated by her priorities. "Artoria, you're always thinking about money! Someone is summoning you, so respond to it!"
Artoria's eyes widened in surprise. "Summoning me?" Her brow furrowed in confusion. "But I've already made a contract with Gray, so I can't be summoned by anyone else."
Morrigan shook her head, her expression serious. "You must respond to this person's summon."
"No way," she shook her head. "Except for Gray, I won't acknowledge anyone else as my Master. Not even little Ritsuka..."
"But the person summoning you is your king, Eternal King!"
She was stunned for a moment, her eyes widening in disbelief. She pointed at herself, her voice rising with each word, "What? What? What? The king is summoning me? No way!" Her mind was reeling, trying to process the information. "Wait, If the king is summoning me... then... then should I commit suicide first?"
Morrigan sighed, shaking her head. "This woman, I swear..."
...
After Bergelmir commanded the main force of the fire giants, he successfully annihilated a portion of the human army that failed to retreat in time. It was all too easy, so smooth that Bergelmir couldn't help but frown.
"Looks like those Heroic Spirits have finally given up," a fire giant general said, clearly pleased with the situation.
Another giant shook his head. "It's not that simple." Having witnessed Galahad's unyielding determination in battle, he couldn't doubt the tenacity of the Eternal Kingdom's soldiers.
The general laughed. "You're too pessimistic."
He remained silent. This general had high standards but also obvious flaws. He was eager for quick success and instant gratification, which is why Surtr sent him to assist Bergelmir in invading the stronghold instead of placing him in the main army.
His gaze shifted to Bergelmir, and the other fire giants followed suit. Despite being from different tribes, they all held an incomparable admiration for Bergelmir.
Giants were known for their physical strength and superior potential, and in the past, they never submitted to each other, leading to heavy internal strife. However, there were two giants that all others respected and admired without exception. One of them was Surtr, who united the fire giants and made them all submit to him through his wisdom and bearing alone.
And the other was Bergelmir. His courage and achievements were unmatched, making his takeover of the fire giant army's command quite easy. Of course, this was also due to Surtr's previous endorsement. Seeing all the giants looking at him, Bergelmir waved his hand as usual and said, "Let's go, warriors. Let's join up with Surtr!" The giants nodded in agreement.
