Added 2025-07-13 22:55:01 +0000 UTCSuddenly, a snowball smacked into the back of Shirou's head, sending snow cascading down his neck.
"Direct hit!" Mordred crowed, already packing another snowball.
"Nice throw!" Arcueid laughed, high-fiving the younger girl. "Think you can get him again?"
"Oh, you two are asking for it now," Shirou said, wiping snow from his hair with a grin. He quickly scooped up some snow and launched it back at them.
"Everyone pile on Shirou!" Mordred called out gleefully.
"That sounds fun," Scathach said with a mischievous smile, abandoning any pretense of adult dignity as she joined the game.
"Wait, this isn't fair—" Shirou started to protest, then looked hopefully at Morgan and Vivian. "You're on my side, right?"
They exchanged a look, then Morgan shrugged. "Sorry, but you did kind of bring this on yourself."
"Fairies stick together," Vivian added with false solemnity, then pelted him with a perfectly aimed snowball.
"Traitors!" Shirou laughed, dodging and weaving as snowballs flew from all directions. "This is completely unfair!"
"Don't go too far from camp!" Artoria called after him as he made a tactical retreat behind some trees, still chuckling at the chaos.
While the others continued their war, Artoria and Sakura worked together to organize their supplies and set up a proper campsite for the night.
"They're having way too much fun," Sakura said, watching Shirou attempt a counterattack only to be overwhelmed again.
"It's good to see him like this," Artoria agreed. "He spent so long carrying everyone else's burdens. He deserves to just... play for a while."
Sakura glanced at her. "Are you happy, Artoria-neesan?”
Artoria paused in her task, considering the question seriously. "You know, I think I am. For the first time in longer than I can remember, I'm not worried about the future or haunted by the past. I'm just... here. With all of you." She smiled. "What about you, Sakura?"
"Me?" Sakura looked back toward their ridiculous, chaotic, wonderful family. "After everything I went through, after all those years of thinking I'd never deserve happiness... this feels like a miracle."
In the distance, Shirou's laughter echoed across the snowy landscape as he finally managed to land a hit on Scathach, who responded by launching an all-out offensive.
"I think," Sakura said softly, "this is exactly the ending our story was supposed to have."
And as the snow continued to fall around them, painting the world in pristine white, it truly felt like the perfect conclusion to Fujimaru Shirou's long and winding journey toward happiness.
…
The girl and Fujimaru Mirai were just turning to the last page when a hand reached over and gently took the book from them.
"Find something interesting?"
They both looked up, startled, to see Shirou standing there with an amused smile.
"We're sorry!" they said together, looking genuinely embarrassed at being caught.
"It's okay," he chuckled, settling the book on a nearby shelf. "Diaries are meant to be read eventually, aren't they? Otherwise, what's the point of writing down all those memories?"
He turned to the girl. "Your ship's ready, by the way. My friends finished the repairs this morning."
"Oh." The girl's face fell slightly. "I guess that means it's time for me to go. Thank you for letting me stay here while it was being fixed, Mr. T."
Fujimaru Mirai opened her mouth as if to say something, then closed it again, looking conflicted.
Shirou noticed his daughter's expression and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "You know, Mirai, you could always go with her. See what's out there beyond our little corner of the universe."
"I..." Mirai bit her lip, looking uncertain. "But I... I'm scared, Dad. What if I'm not ready for something like that?"
"Nobody's ever really ready," he said softly. "But if you spend your whole life waiting to feel ready, you'll miss out on everything worth experiencing. Besides," he smiled, "no matter how far you travel or what happens, you'll always have a home to come back to."
Mirai looked between her father and the girl, then took a deep breath. "Maybe... maybe a short trip wouldn't hurt."
"That's my girl," he said proudly. "Just remember—the best adventures are the ones you share with good friends."
Mirai stood there for a long moment, clearly wrestling with herself. Finally, she took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay. I'll try it."
"Wait, hold on," the girl said, looking bewildered as Shirou placed a gentle hand on Mirai's shoulder. "You want me to take your daughter on a space journey? Are you sure that's... safe?"
"She'll be fine with you," he said confidently. Then he picked up the diary and held it out to her. "This belongs to you now."
"But it's your diary!" the girl protested.
"Actually, I borrowed it from someone a long time ago. Consider this me finally returning it to where it belongs." Shirou's smile was mysteriously knowing.
The girl looked confused. "Returning it? But I've never seen this book before in my life."
"You might want to stick around for a few more minutes," he said gently. "Someone’s on their way to see you. As for me, I should disappear before someone shows up and ropes me into housework until I drop."
"Dad?" Mirai's voice was small.
Shirou turned to her, his expression softening. "Go find your own adventure, Mirai. Make your own story. I'll always be proud of you, no matter what happens."
With that, he simply... faded away, like he'd never been there at all.
"Dad..." Mirai whispered, looking like she might cry.
"Hey, it's okay," the girl said awkwardly, patting Mirai's head. "I'm sure we'll figure this out together."
At that moment, the ground shook as a massive spaceship landed nearby. The girl's eyes widened.
"That aura... could it be Chocolate Sauce?" she breathed.
The ship's ramp lowered, and three figures emerged. The first was a girl who looked remarkably similar to Mirai, followed by a stern-looking young woman and a boy carrying an ornate spear.
"I told you to stop calling me by that ridiculous nickname," the first girl was saying with obvious irritation. "My name is Bridget."
Mirai's face lit up with recognition. "Big sister! Third sister! Seventh brother!"
The Big Sister stopped dead in her tracks when she saw Mirai. "Mirai? What are you doing here?"
Bridget looked equally surprised. "How did you end up on this planet?"
"Wait, wait," the girl said, looking back and forth between them in confusion. "Mirai is your little sister? How many siblings do you people have?"
"She's my youngest sister," Bridget said after a moment. "If Mirai's here, that means... you met our father?"
"Yes, just a few minutes ago, actually."
"Where did he go?" Mordred demanded. "We've been looking for him for weeks. Gilgamesh has been causing trouble across three different star systems, and I need Dad to come deal with him before things get out of hand."
The girl winced. "He said something about needing to leave before he got captured and worked to death? Then he just... disappeared."
Mordred let out an exasperated groan. "Of course he did. He starts this whole Cosmic Defense Force, puts me in charge of operations, and then vanishes the moment actual paperwork shows up. When I find him, I'm going to—"
"You're going to hug him and tell him you missed him," the boy with the spear said with a teasing smile.
"Shut up," Mordred muttered.
Bridget looked between Mirai and the girl. "So what are doing here, Mirai?"
"Actually," Mirai said hesitantly, "Dad suggested I should try traveling for a while—to find my own path, go on an adventure."
"Well, if you're looking for adventure," Mordred said, her tone softening when she looked at her little sister, "the Defense Force could always use more help. We travel all over the galaxy, help people in trouble, occasionally save the universe from megalomaniacal kings..."
"That... actually sounds amazing," the girl said, her eyes lighting up.
"Really?" Mirai looked hopeful. "You wouldn't mind if I tagged along?"
"Are you kidding?" Bridget grinned. "Having more family around would be great. Just try to keep up."
As they walked toward the ship together, the girl turned to Mirai. "You know, I never did tell you my name properly, Mirai-chan."
"I don't think you told me any name," Mirai pointed out.
"Well, I've been thinking about it, and I've decided to go by something new. Something that fits my new life as a hero." She struck a dramatic pose. "From now on, call me Mysterious Heroine X!"
Bridget raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? That's what you're going with?"
"What's wrong with it? It sounds mysterious and heroic!"
"It sounds like you couldn't decide between being mysterious or being a heroine, so you just picked both."
"I think it's cool," Mirai said loyally.
As their voices faded into the distance, carried away by the ship's engines, a new chapter began—not just for them, but for all the adventures yet to come.
—The End—

Thank you very much for this story. Its been one hell of a ride, engaging story, convoluted plot twist and BS power up, and I loved it. So thank you for the past few years.
