Channel Update #41 (Dec)

Season’s greetings everyone, I hope you’re all well.

This is just a short update to say that a longer update is coming soon where I’ll do a full year review of NeverKnowsBest in 2023.

There is a new video though. It took far longer than I expected or wanted but I’m reasonably happy with the end result. It’s also been well received on YouTube (although it’s still early days). But any success on YouTube is appreciated because I didn’t think this was a topic/title/thumbnail that would perform well.

I also don’t have any big lessons or problems to complain about for once. Making the video didn’t go well but I think sometimes that happens. Maybe for some people creating things is a smooth, relaxed and consistent experience but it doesn’t seem that way for me. I find it to be full of chaos and emotion, with high highs and low lows, and I’m not sure that’s something I could change even if I wanted to. I think really the good and bad have the same cause, which is that I care a lot about what I make. And so I feel pressure and stress and disappointment, but I’m also highly motivated and feel excited and proud even, when I do make something that I like. It’s two sides of the same coin, and I don’t think I could change one side without risking losing the other. And, ultimately, it works. I’ve been doing this for over 5 years. I must be doing something right.

Anyway next update will involve looking back at the videos I made in 2023 and discussing plans for 2024. See you in the new year.
