I so agree with you on the Ice Bucket challenge. I hate the forcedness of it and the fact that pretty much either way, one should donate to the ALS, as it sort of turned into a "do the challenge AND donate" thing. My students challenged me (They did it because they wanted to, not because they could donate, which I thought entirely missed the point and became just a popular thing to do.). I declined immediately. I have 2 friends whom are homeless and starving and suffering. I'm not going to donate money to a large charity where I don't see where that money goes. I'd rather see my money go into food for my friends. At least Child's Play is open and you can donate to specific places for specific reasons. I deal with that a lot better.
