I wonder, would Grandma Whitney take greater interest in Rick if she discovered the Sibling Technique he is developing. Same with Emily since she is a Lucrima Technician. Cause what he is doing actually does some revolutionairy if not an accidental off-shoot of some powerful secret sect technique.

2019-06-15 05:36:52 +0000 UTCGood question! Everyone takes Lucrim Education in school, and Rick paid more attention than average there, but that doesn't actively teach people how to fight each other. There are school sports and clubs that teach martial arts, though, and Rick was involved with those growing up. Once he got an interest in that, he sought out additional instruction from various sources.

2019-06-14 12:09:06 +0000 UTCProbably paid attention in class, this world is filled with martial arts and stuff, it's like having a basic knowledge of math or something. Plus, he worked as a punching bag, probably got to see a ton of different techniques that way. That and public resources like learning how to cook something on youtube, but for basic martial techniques. Plus, he seems to be a naturally gifted base level fighter. If you took him and put him into our world, he would probably be a decent street brawler, and possibly a good amateur boxer or mma fighter. Nothing more yet, but he's got good reflexes and instincts.

Obviously to some degree his skills come from self-training, but he had to learn the fundamentals first. Do kids in this world learn kung fu at school like dodgeball? Is he this world's equivalent of "paid attention in class, didn't forget how to do basic algebra within a few years of graduating?" Or did he seek out additional instruction beyond what kids in this world get by default?
