Moderately public. Some local leaders are watching, some consider themselves above it, some (like his boss) don't care. It won't be reported on in newspapers, but those who follow this sort of thing will find out. So yes, this will increase the amount of attention on Rick. Not necessarily in ways he wants, but that's a matter for the second book.

Are any of the other local trainers or school owners? Considering how much progress he's made in his lucrim portfolio and personal combat ability, and his achievement as the champion of the featherweight class in this tournament (even if it's a team competition, he won the most points in the featherweight division, which is as good a claim as any to being the champion,) I'm wondering if this might give him enough cred to get a job as a trainer under a less shitty boss. Then, with the improvements to his lucrim rating and ether score, he might finally accomplish the dream of being lower-middle class!
