Early Chapter 55: Final Preparations

I do have a rough outline, but I didn't want it to be a 1:1 correspondence in order to give myself a bit more flexibility. However, I think Lisa's score might be the incorrect one, too high unless I shift how the system works.

What puzzles me most is how such a large gap in ether score between Rick and Lisa accounts for such a small gap in ether tier, when Rick's ether tier has been going up at much smaller point intervals so far. His ether score is 44 points higher now, and he's gone up by three tiers relative to the beginning, but Lisa, three tiers above where he is now, has an ether score over 370 points higher. One possibility that occurred to me was that there are large jumps in the ether score requirements between quartiles, but that doesn't seem consistent with Henry having been in the 15th ether tier, unless maybe the second quartile is considered to start at 14.

2019-07-17 22:44:36 +0000 UTCEther tier offers the more direct societal benefits, like being able to use special public transportation, while ether score is checked by loaning agencies, demonic bonds, and so on. Tier is mostly determined by score, but they measure slightly different things. Having said that, I should check Henry's score at those instances. It's possible that one of them doesn't actually fit the system very well.

2019-07-17 21:02:06 +0000 UTCSo, one thing that hasn't really come up much so far in the narrative is how much Rick's ether score and tier has increased since the beginning of the story. He started off with an ether score of 189, at tier 19, so his score has gone up by close to 50 points, and he's risen by three tiers since the beginning. Aside from being able to potentially score a better demonic bond, what kind of advantages would that progress offer him? Also, I'd previously assumed that ether tiers were a function of ether score, but looking over past chapters again with reference to this one, I'm no longer sure that's meant to be the case. As far as we know, Henry peaked at ether tier 15, where he was when he scored his second demonic bond. But his ether score then was lower than Rick's is now, or was even back when Rick participated in the fight where Henry overdrew on his demonic bonds, and Rick was in ether tier 17 then. So what's the actual relationship between ether scores and ether ties supposed to be?

Also wondering if Rick and his sister might be able to work out a way to create a new core for him based on the flame. If he has a way to hold it inside of himself it must be possible?!?!?

Skill level has a lot to do with refinement as opposed to raw power. The tournament would probably have increased it, except that his stunt with Teragen had already taken him past that point.

Presumably he had like a few days or so to work on it, so he ended up making it work somehow...
