Early Chapter 56: Grudge Match

Buckle up, it's time for the big fight!

-

(Moved to RoyalRoad.)

-

And here we are. After half a year and many chapters, we've come to this point. I've tried to do a modernized and grounded take on the young master trope and I can only hope that people find it satisfying.

There's one more chapter entitled "Life Has No Epilogues" that will wrap up some things. After that, instead of a chapter post, I intend to do a poll to find out what future release pace you guys generally prefer. Once the story is finished on RoyalRoad, I'll be releasing an Amazon version and I hope you will consider leaving it a review.

But more on that later. For now, I hope you have enjoyed this and that you'll look forward to the next chapter. ^-^

Thank you for reading! I intend to write some more and it would be great if you could help support the release by leaving a review.

This was a great story and well paced. Liking it a lot so far, so I hope you continue it.

Thank you so much, this story has been one of the things I looked forward to on a day to day basis. It was amazing and I can't wait to see what you write next.

Runcible Technician

Thanks! I did something a little different with this, so I hope it's appealing to readers.

Sarah Lin

Thank you for reading! Please stay tuned for future posts, both to influence future decisions and to help out the release.

Sarah Lin

Thank you! Really happy to hear that. ^-^

Sarah Lin

Thanks, glad you liked the resolution! All the options will be larger chunks than average, since I haven't found the rapid pace to work as well for me. Stay tuned for a poll about this after the last chapter!

Thanks! This trope usually ends in death or something severe, but I felt like this would be a more realistic resolution for the modern feeling. Biting your thumb to get blood is a trope, maybe one that should have been changed, but I wanted to give Melissa something cool at the end.

Sarah Lin

I don't normally like cultivation novels, but your story may have changed that.

Jonathan Shaw

Thanks for the chapter and story. The take of the modern cultivation world was amazing. Looking forward for more.

Thank you so much! This chapter (and book) was epic! Really felt like the payoff we've all been waiting for, and you executed it perfectly :)

Timothy Alexander

> What he had seen from the road were four spires at the corners that curved up toward the center. This kinda feels like Cell's fighting arena from DBZ. Man, memories... > I intend to do a poll to find out what future release pace you guys generally prefer. I'm personally partial to chapters like these. It might take longer to write, but it's so enjoyable to be able to read the story by chunks like these. Also, 10/10 fight, very satisfying resolution. A perfect ending to the book, imo!

Zeal Iskander

I've really enjoyed this story, thank you! I know I would keep reading if you wrote more of his story.

Gabriel

Great finish! It would have been satisfying to see Rick leave Mike with some kind of permanent damage to his lucrim, or something of that sort, but with his father there watching, something like that which creates lasting consequences for Mike might have risked prolonging the grudge. As an aside though, Melissa cutting her thumb with her teeth sounds astonishingly painful. Especially if it's in front along the print of her thumb, tearing through the thick skin with her own teeth seems so masochistic, it sounds like it could constitute a formidable intimidation tactic all by itself.

Desertopa

Very happy to hear you enjoyed it. ^-^ I tried to plan and pace the story so that it would read well as a novel (I can only hope readers who experience it that way agree). However, the short chapter lengths, chapter titles, and cliffhangers were all consciously done because of the serialized form.

Sarah Lin

On a side note do you think you'd write this story differently if it was a continuous novel instead of a serialized story?

Satya Prateek

This was epic! I had to stop myself from scrolling to the end to see what happened.
