Early Chapter 57: Life Has No Epilogues

(Moved to RoyalRoad.)

-

Here we are: the last chapter of this book, the ending I've had in mind from the beginning. I didn't want to give Rick a legendary artifact or a billion dollars, but I wanted to leave him with a substantially improved position in life. Thanks to everyone for following me this far!

Directness and honesty with patrons is important to me, so I have to say that I won't have a new chapter for you in another three days. Instead, we're going to have a poll regarding what update frequency you'd like for future books. I'll be getting your opinions on a few things while I get these chapters ready for the Amazon release, which I'll have my fingers tightly crossed for.

My general idea for the second book is that it will catch up to Rick as he tries to make further improvements to his life, like getting a better job and moving to a better part of town. But because his life can't be simple, he ends up getting embroiled in a high risk, high reward conflict. It will explore more about how businesses and corporations work in this world, develop characters like Melissa and Lisa, and include a number of elements that just didn't fit into this book.

But those are future issues. Thank you all for supporting me in this work! I hope to have you with me for the next steps. ^-^

Yeah, that was its purpose. Functionally a leech, but marketed like it's a core that benefits the user.

>It took me a while to make the connection, but I'm guessing "Advanced Lucrim" is called that because that's exactly what it is, an advance on your own future Lucrim? Correct! The Golden Lucore was introduced because I wanted to do this twist, with it serving a cynical corporate purpose. Glad you're looking forward to future stories. ^-^

Nice ending. I love this slow, slife of life, but still full of fantasy stories.

Enjoyed this book immensely, loved how it finished, and eagerly await the next :)

A rather nice ending. So that's what the golden lucore was, and why it didn't do anything : I suppose it either works like a leech, and extracts lucrim from you while growing, or like an inert core that grows overtime and that you have to pay to have removed. Looking through the previous chapters... ""Wow, great." With troubling speed the casually-dressed man slipped forward and took it from him. He drew it close and peered at it, then glanced toward him eagerly. "You're not part of the test group, but I gotta ask, did you feel anything? It's supposed to be a future lucrim burn, but if the core wasn't working right maybe it would have just felt like a drain?"" Seems like it's the first one then? Just an aura leech, but in the form of a core, so presumably harder to remove? Mhh... Anyway, looking forward to the poll and to what you do next!

I would definitely like to see more of this world you've built

It took me a while to make the connection, but I'm guessing "Advanced Lucrim" is called that because that's exactly what it is, an advance on your own future Lucrim? I think this is a great payoff for the whole Golden Lucore element, since it really ties in the perspective from which these large corporations actually operate. The Golden Lucore never constituted a great powerup, but then, developing some special elite powerup would probably never have profited them as much as the Advanced Lucrim business. Whatever pace the rest comes out at, I have to say, I'm just glad this isn't the end of Street Cultivation. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you plan to do with it from here.

This was the perfect ending for this story and arc. He isn’t going to get it all at once, that’s sort of contrary to the nature of the story you wrote... and wouldn’t have worked. I like the golden lucrim tie in, this was just a fantastic eventful story chapter to chapter. It has so much in the world that makes me want to know more!

I love how you brought it full circle, well done:-)

Stephen Pearson

I love him taking the punch.

Well done! Very Well done. :)

Thanks for the great story. This was a great ending rapping everything up in a fairly nice bow.

ParadoxMike

Having a healthy sister, a raise, several friends/ romantic interests and no debt are significant accomplishments. All 4 of these things I wish for in real life!

James

Thanks for the chapter! I like this ending to book ones, things haven't drastically changed on the day to day but I'd say that he now has a better foundation and outlook to build on.

Jamarr

A very satisfying ending,

James
