Hårgalåten

I've had a few of you ask if there's anywhere you can listen to the version of Hårgalåten from the Midsommar video on its own anywhere. I'm not certain on timeframe yet but I wanted to let you know that Felicia is putting it up on her Youtube channel (and on Spotify), I'll post the link once it's up!

In other news the script for The VVitch is at around 20k words currently. I've entirely abandoned worrying about maximum wordcount so it probably is going to be a bit longer than I originally anticipated.

aw this is a charming version for sure! I think I'm partial to the prog rock version bc I grew up w an old hippie dad who had the vinyl haha

I don't know much about Horga/Hårga outside of the context from the song, but I think it's just a case of a place that has shifted spelling over time. it started out as Horga and became Hårga along the way.

Thats so cool! Nice to hear we Swedes didnt disappoint (... If that goes for or against the message of the movie i leave unsaid :D) Yeah, i actually tried to look it up after your video but it seems the link has gone dead, but it is still up on Wayback Machine, my memory is that there somewhere om the site mentioned it being a official page for the movie which was what made me realize that it was fake :D http://web.archive.org/web/20210218033728/https://welcometoharga.org/ There is a locked page "for residents" mentioning some rituals, i think there actually wasnt a password needed to access it (on my phone right now so cant double check haha)

Merrigan is so awesome, I have spoken to her, I love this version too and my first wish was to use that version in my video. Unfortunately due to Youtube, due to record labels, we couldn't find a way to make that work within my budget. Luckily I found Felicia and she absolutely smashed it and gave us something really unique, but I am hoping that in the future I will be able to get Merrigan on board for a video as well! She's really cool, really kind. Honestly every Swedish person I asked for help regarding the Midsommar vid was absolutely wonderful and did everything they could. I'm currently not having the same luck in my own country regarding The Witch! I don't suppose you have the link to the fake Midsommar page do you? I'd love to see it!

I've heard that, I love it! Out of interest do you ever use just 'Horga' or is that specifically for the song?

This one by Merrigan is my favorite: https://open.spotify.com/track/2e3SRC5NTsWYtqNzCngM4a?si=_D7F-w8USQmODQx-ClaWCQ (also on youtube: https://youtu.be/BE_IzIRtSkw?si=PPGJxmLR9g4dO1qj ) fun sidenote, i wrote a short story once based on the hårgalåten, and in researching it i stumbled upon a webpage with some crazy folklore-stuff regarding Håega i thought was really cool and interesting: turns out I had stumbled upon a midsommar-movie fake page so nothing in it was true hahah

we swedes have a tendency to sometimes spell it horgalåten, if anyone wants to do a deepdive into different versions of the song. my personal favorite is the 70s prog rock version by Kebnekajse ;)
