Hereditary - What Happens Next?

Seeing as the Hereditary Guide hit one million views I thought it was only fair we have a fun little bonus video to celebrate. This will be/is available on Youtube too if you prefer the player there, although I'm honestly not sure how long it will stay up as I'm playing fast and loose with the copyright system. For now though, they're the same version.

Just a Patreon specific note: Obviously I'm learning all this stuff as I go and I had no idea how to do a credits roll for three hundred people. I've taken a fair run at it but it was one of those 'If I touch it again I might break it' type deals and I didn't want to spend too long on this as it's taking time away from the VVitch. So if you notice some janky credit roll, I am sorry. We're going to have an extra fancy credits section on The VVitch VVideo to make up for it, more on that soon.

I'm also not counting this as a 'Patreon vid' so expect something more off the cuff from me over the next week.

Hope you guys enjoy!

This was SO great! Your content is my absolute favorite. Thank you for all of the hard work you’ve shared! At the next audience request I’ll place my bid for “What Comes Next? Midsommar”.

How about doing a video on Suspiria (2018)?

Yeah Paimon's representation wasn't something I ever considered at first. Generally 'demon' is simply a good enough reason for their antagonism. But yeah, I think we can see the points he's decided to alter the character and they are all generally to horror-movieify the existing lore. I am intrigued as to 'why Paimon?' and not other entities, my presumption is that his seal from TLKOS fit well with the three heads and ultimately he's just a popular choice for people looking to bargain for earthly rewards. All that being said, "nothing is sacrosanct" and he's very clearly willing to poke whatever fun/criticism he wants at religion, so we shouldn't be too surprised that extends to Paimon too.

Oh that's really good to hear! I was a surly teenager also but I remember time spent with my parents like that very fondly. I'm sure whatever he chooses to do he's going to excel at it, and well done to you for getting him engaged with this stuff at that age, it isn't always easy!

Ahaha yeah I think saw that too, if it's the post I linked underneath this one (there may be multiple threads lol). To be honest I think it's a pretty normal reaction to something quite abnormal that I'm doing. I always figured that would be the 'normal' reaction to it, but I also thought that there would be enough people wanting content like this that it maybe wouldn't matter.

I saw someone on reddit recently shit talking what, I assume, was a veiled reference to you making these long analysis videos, so it's good to see that something that NOBODY HAS TIME FOR according to this redditor can crest a million views. Well done!

Watched this with the (until recently) somewhat surly son, right after your “Midsommar”; the two of us are looking forward to both “The VVitch” and, of course, to “Heretic.” Lately he’s been saying he might be interested in pursuing a Film and Media Criticism degree at college…😳

That is one thing that Ari Aster does in this movie that bothers me a little. Portray Paimon in a negative light. I have also studied his lore, and, this particular Jinn, is just happy interacting with this realm by assisting its practitioners, as long as they work together in a friendly fashion. Not by humans being submissive to him, as this cult is. That approach would bring out, most likely, dire consequences. Cutting heads and collecting them is an ancient occult practice. It's present in nearly every religion. Even some with Abrahamic roots. From the head of John The Baptist being used by The Templars (and the Masons next), to Skull & Bones using Geronimo’s in their rituals. Aster decided to incorporate that in this fictional version. Well, after all, it’s just entertainment. And this movie is entertaining indeed.

LETS GO I HAVE SOMETHING TO LISTEN TO WHILE I SHANK GOLF BALLS INTO THE WOODS AND LOSE MY TEMPER.
